Default Pachislo Cabinet & Battle Counter

So, I decided to see how my Gundam Pachislo would look in it's own cabinet. I originally planned on just getting a table/stand for it, but with the addition of the battle counter realized a cabinet was the answer.

Overall height is 6' and the game sits 32" off the floor. drilled a 1" hole to pass all the counter cables around to the back. Did the wooden dowels again on the bottom shelf for added support.

Decided to test fit the whole thing prior to the sanding/prime/paint to see how it looked and played. Height is very comfy on a stool, and while the counter is readily visible, it's not doing the disco dance in your face.

Yea, the open area below was going to just be a sheet of plywood, but I am back to the design phase... thinking of how to add 12oz can holder and possibly spots for 2 token cups. I may just build a small holder inbetween 2 cabinets instead to keep the construction easy as possible.

Lots of sanding and priming today so I hopefully have some finished photos tomorrow.

    Cup holder is a must.

What finish are you going to do. Paint or varnish? Hmmmm maybe gloss black?

I will probably paint it the same grey as the pachinko cabinet, though black would help pop the chrome better.

Battle counter connections are pretty much universal for all Pachislo's, I'm surprised more people don't get them.

Sorry for the delay in pics... I was out in the garage during the week, and I decided that the design was just not working for several reasons. First, I had followed the same rough plan as the pachinko cabinet, but the flaw there is that the door on a pachislo is heavy as hell and when open really throws off the center of balance...mistake #1. The second issue, and I can be my own worst critic as a designer is the old cabinet just felt boring.

That said - round 2 is here, I went wider on the depth (18") and notched out the sides to match the door design. This hangs the counter on a strip over you and feels better proportioned. When the door is open it is nice and stable, and I may be able to fit in another overhead light setup this way. Much to do (router the edges, sand, paint prime) but this one is heading in a much better direction.

First pic is just for comparison:

A quick update... so this week I managed to sneak in some time after work and get the router work done on the front edges - amazing how a little work really adds to the cabinet. Next I picked up a set of cabinet drawer slides and put in the framework for the drawer. Test fit the cup holder (which will get some more cutouts for a coin tray and key holder) which should hold a nice frosty one while I play.

I think if the humidity drops a bit this weekend I should be able to get some paint on and have it dry within 3 days.

Much happier with how this is coming out vs. my first attempt - really excited to see it with a coat of paint and next to my Pachinko.

I went with it because Lowe's only carries pine boards 12" wide, so it was either cabinet grade plywood, or this. Problem I have had in the past is that plywood can be hit or miss when you router the edges, not to mention more expensive.

Made some minor progress this week - humidity was the major problem, and me not wanting to paint when it wass 95+ in the garage didn't help either

So I put down the prime coat and went with the lamp black in a high gloss - this is just the first coat...still need some 320 sanding and a top coat, but it is looking like I may get the pachislo in the cabinet by end of the weekend!

Finally took some almost ready for prime-time photos... A few small things remain - but it's 95% finished. I am really happy I started over on this one - got to play around with it tonight while I gave it a cleaning and the new design makes maintenance a breeze. The tupperware tray has a rubberized bottom and can hold about 500 extra tokens - I have an idea for the other open spot which is why I left it unpainted for now.

Definately NOT a stupid question. I made that exact mistake myself and ended up with a counter for the pachislo by accident.

Pachislo has a single multi-wire connector that plugs into the payout board - nice and simple. Pachinko has lots of single wire connectors that based on your model need to go to certain outputs.
