Default legal to sell coverted pachislo?

After checking out tons of auctions on Ebay and reading the disclaimers on each of them reguarding the conversion of these machines to accept US quarters I am under the assumption that it is NOT legal to sell them this way. So as I was searching for some info on a machine I am interested in I came across this auction site that is offering quite a few that are converted, and are not shy about stating the fact. I have never been to this particular site before and don't know how reputable they are. Was just wondering if anyone knows how they can get away with this if it isn't legal?????

There are a few states in which it doesn't matter, Arby has a thread on here somewhere about it with a list of all 50 states and what is generally allowed.
These guys are getting away with it because that website apparently does not police its sellers like ebay does. The rule of thumb is that it is not legal to convert them to use quarters. There are more states that don't allow it as opposed to ones that do.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

Yanno.....I'd :smt046 if it turned out the "conversion" to accept quarters was just a piece of TAPE.

*LMFAO* "For only an extra $99.99+tax, we'll convert your machine to use quarters! (shipping and handling will be an extra $149.95+tax)...." just to add a piece of tape.....sheesh...it's less cheesy if they turn a screw or something...

actually i think it depends on the manufacturer of the machine. different companies use different coin mechs.my machine worked with tape. I've since removed the tape

The mod that Dean does requires some grinding on some part not sure which any longer but when he does it, it can't be undone.
