actualy concrete pavers ahve been around for a few hundred years.. properaly installed you will have no problems..

not that im a sales man or anything like that... but the expected life for a concrete drive way is 50 years if its maintained ... concrete pavers are forever... just ask the Romans..

if your interested in a new dirve way or patio material i highly recomend them

    update..

it may not look like allot done but just out of one of the pics was a huge pile for rock..

One Project allways creates another.. to this weekend i shoveled up over a yard of landscaping rock.. (red Lava)

so spend the weekend driving to Monterey (pachi rescue) then shoveling rock and laying a few more pavers

your going to want 4 inches of coompacted road base.. (most compactors will only compact 2 inches at a time so two lifts of 2 inches) the important part is to have the Road base / agg base uniform and flat with slop for drainage.. in most paver applications water needs to run off the pavers not threw them.. water runing thew them will cause erousion and sink holes

... next a layer of course clean sand..the sand layer needs to be a uniform thickness usualy about 1/2 inch thick and not compacted (the easy way is to use two pieces of conduit or pipe to screed the and to thickness... place pavers on the sand bed then a clean medium washed sand over the top of the pavers... then compact again locking the pavers into place.. the sand under will work up the joints a bit and the sand on top will work its way down locking everything into place..

around the edges you will need some kind of edge restraint system to lock them in.. instaled befor final compaction
