Default Warranty Poll: Machine Not Working?

During what time period have people had warranty problems? (Not scratch and dent, but the machine actually not working correctly.)

I had a bad 50 pin ribbon cable on my Neo PlanetT. I bought it from Valley Gaming. I never did get that cable from them. Eric at pachinko_pallace sent one to me. So I got great service, just not from the vendor that sold it to me.

Approximately 1/3 of the machines I received have some defect.

I don't count a bulb or two being out as a defect, but when a machine arrives with several reel lights out (especially if they are difficult to replace) I call that a defect. I figure when they refurbed the machine they just felt it was easier to supply some bulbs if and when I complained.

Most of the "defects" have been things missed (or incorrectly fixed) during refurb. These have included door reset switch incorrectly installed so it couldn't possibly work. Incorrect type of door lock installed so latch wouldn't work properly. Fluorescent bulb behind belly glass totally missing, etc.

Remaining defects were probably shipping damage. Damage to case, boards and/or connectors coming loose, etc.

When i ordered my tatsujin machine from Rob at pachislousa one of the connectors on a board above the reels was knocked off during shipping and he replaced it immediately and explained how to remove the old board and replace the new board, but since then i havent had any problems with the last 2 machine ive bought from milt, but this might be because i pick them up so they cant be damaged during shipment

When i got my Hanabi, I had one light out on the bottom left reel, and the whole connector board was disconnected, it scared me at first, cause i didnt catch it, i was like OMG its not working NO! But found the problem, the light was a pain the butt, but nothing Stealth didnt help me fix over the phone.

I had machines come that were in great shape and in kit form (came apart in shipping and you get to put it together).

Packing is the problem and bad handling is the cause.

    IMHO

Note: I would think it would be cheaper to over pack than do an insurance claim with all the hassles it has ?

I know there are no free lunches, and the cost of packing/labor has to be carried by someone. But I have found the hassle of UPS insurance claim to warrant me to over pack to save the machine and problems.

I have learned that "I would rather pay $10 more for over packing than getting a machine in busted up shape". Foam pieces inside the box keeps the reels that are only hung by 4 to 6 screws from coming loose and free wheeling around. Same to the hopper ass'my. here only 4 screws hold it in place.

And I have never got a machine that didn't have loose screws or missing ones. and that's from all the Major vendors. The ride these machines take are just not very nice, from vibration to just being knocked around like bump cars.

Now Pachinkos are different, I think because of the weight, and their compactness. If the Vendor packs good with a lot of foam and the box is tight, and the ball are wrapped well so they don't crean around. They get here in very nice shape.

At first I though it was just Iowa play football with the slots, but as reading on the boards, this is not the case. It seems that there is a large amount that comes damaged. And we make a lot of phone calls for help & parts.

This cost has to be added in somewhere in the cost of the machine. This cost sometimes can get very high on a few machines and on some none, so I am sure it is an average amount added to each machine up front in costing out.

That is way my reasoning to over pack would save money in the long run, both the vendor and the consumer.

    Again IMHO

The exception to the rule (seems to be the story of my life  )

Even with absolutely outstanding packing, if UPS really WANTS to kill it, they will. This was packed with more padding than a high school prom queen and her court!!

That was left on my porch yesterday... not a ring... not a knock... and I didn't even hear him come up the porch steps. I was home when he delivered it, and never heard him!!!

And look at the other shot of the bottom of the box... it MIGHT have been a tank!

I can't say for sure that's my driver's fault.... BUT...
I've seen him toss... YES, TOSS... a pachislo box out of the back of his truck into my driveway.
He said his back hurt that day. :smt093

My ecup machine had the start knob go bad. It appeared to have been glue together at one point and eventually fell apart. I emailed the company I got it from, after many emails the finally sent one back telling me to call. I called and they asked me to send the part so they could she want I needed, sent it and never heard or received anything back. Now I hope I can find someone who can sell me what I need to get the machine up and running again. I don't have enough to have one sitting idle. :-(

RK, I need the whole thing. The insides were what appeared to have been glued. All I have now is a hole in the front of my machine and the wires inside that went to it.
