DSCF9017.JPG Good it works again! As I said, it is claimed to be maid in Spain, but I can find no maker, or country of origin markings on it anywhere. Since I love to see how things work...I had to take it apart!

I still watch the knife show and the coin vault show on and off

I haven't bought any more knives for a long time.

I do buy cheaper coins and coin sets off ebay when i have a few bucks extra

Server busy!DSCF9018.JPGDSCF9019.JPG The spring on the slide is hooked under a notch in the bottom of the blade. As you slide the button forward, it stretches the springs. The blade is held in the retracted position by a spring loaded tab.

I like to look at silver halves and dollars on eBay and only bid just above silver price of the metal in the coin. Using this as a price guide: http://www.coinflation.com/silver_coin_values.html

As you slide the lever forward, the spring stretches as the springs rear hook is engaged in a notch at the base of the blade. The blade is held back by this tab.DSCF9022.JPG Once it is stretched far enough, the slide has a tang that releases the tab,DSCF9023.JPG freeing the blade that slides forward. A screw going through the blade has a tit that rides in the groove in the bottom of the handle that stops the forward travel of the blade.DSCF9020.JPG The tab at the top of the knife locks it in the open position. The same locking tab holds the blade open while the lever is pulled back, stretching the spring until it has enough energy. The front of the spring has a curved hook that hooks over the edge of the head of the same screw that limits blade travel. The front tab is released by an angle cut into the slide that forms a ramp that presses the slide releasing the blade, retracting it into the handle. When I first reassembled it, I put the blade in upside down. The front tab wouldn't engage properly, and the blade wouldn't lock open. Disassembled, flipped blade over, reassembled...worked like a champ! I even stabbed myself in the finger testing it with the cover off by getting it in front of the knife as it released!

the assisted opening knives I have are a lot simpler, they are spring loaded with a locking tab
