    Thumbs down Masamura Shokai folds...

The father company responsible for the 'Masamura gauge' and originator of early pachinko innovations, Masamura Shokai, has folded in Japan owing 1.16 billion yen (US$13 million).

Well, that's sad, but inevitable. You'd think they would have patented that and made a bundle

Yes, wisdom after the event for them though... they probably hadn't a clue that this would be revolutionary. Nor did they understand the commercial impact back in 1946-47...

sad... but they were a spent force a long time ago. Pachinko just ain't the same ball game.

wow. those are a lot of cool looking cells. too bad they didn't have the big ticket ones that would have cost royalties (star wars, matrix, rocky, etc.)

were their machines fun to play? I'd never seen one by them in the US

They had some really cool machines in the later years (remembering I'm not a vintage fan, so don't know their early years very well).

Examples below: Master Climber II, Silver Shuttle III, Saber Jaguar (all Hanemonos), and Alex (a Kenrimono).

Is it the same company I posted? They're a part of Kyoraku, not many employees.

Yeah, same one. You can see Master Climber and Alex for example, on the 2nd page of the 2nd URL you posted.

Some more detail on Silver Shuttle III and Master Climber II

Beautiful boards... and classic pin layouts (of course!!!)

Master Climber had an almost pinball-like device with the Monkey's raising the balls up and down the building yaku. Very unusual.
