Default Pre-video modern Sankyo, pics and a question about a noisy motor

    Hello all!

Garage sale find yesterday, a pre-video modern Sankyo. It is in good shape, pretty clean and operating well.

The center feature is pretty neat when it gets going. Lots of lights and noise, jackhammer guy jiggles around and moves forward and backward, plus there's an electromagnet that holds the balls in place in front of his hammer.

It was nearly 100% functional when I brought it home. The touch-ring wasn't sensing touch, and the prior owner had grounded it to the frame to make it work. I found the sensitivity adjustment pot and got it working correctly.

The only questionable thing about it now: The payout mechanism appears to be driven by a pair of slowly rotating toothed wheels. The motor makes a lot of noise. Is this normal? If not, is there a usually-successful fix for it?

As old as it is (late 80's-early 90's), it could probably use a cleaning, but these normally make some noise, which is covered by the fact that there are a whole bunch of other machines being played in a parlor, the ball handling system noise and the blaring music they used to play through the parlor's sound system.

I had the same question a little while back.
    See here: http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/mode...-question.html

You can hear this noise in the beginning of my video:

YouTube - Fever King 2 Pachinko (1992) Gameplay

I already disassembled the whole payout mechanism and cleaned the motor before shooting the video. Even sprayed some teflon on the gears.

    So it is basically normal

Cool, good to know it is normal. I'll leave it alone except for cleaning.
