Default Sanyo Comet II Shooter Issue

    Hey y'all

    This is driving me crazy
I picked up a Sanyo Comet II and have been restoring it.
Everything seems to be ok except the mechanism that loads a ball into the shooter chamber. I can't figure out if I'm missing a part or if the wire just needs to be bent differently. Here's a picture of the machine, and the shooter mechanism.

    Thanks for your help!

i think on some vintage machines, if you don't have enough balls in the top rear hopper to payout, it won't let you shoot any.

hard to put ingto words let me try

the shooter arm (the metal part that strikes the ball) is mising a piece of stiff wire.. there is a bolt screwed into the shooter arm.. that bolt should be holding a wire that moves the white plastic arm.. that action of the wire swinging the white plastic arm advances the next ball into the shoot position...

let me find a machine that i can get ya a good pic of..

Thanks Mopar! That is exactly what I needed to know. I wasn't sure how the shooter arm pulled the white plastic piece. I'll see if I can fab something as a replacement.

    Thanks

I had the same problem with an older machine.. missing wire. My fix.. was to use the 'fence tie' wire that is used to 'tie' chain link fence to the poles. This wire is fairly stiff and did the trick. I suspect your paper clip isn't robust enough to handle the pressure and/or constant use. Another suggestion... Metal clothes hanger wire. You just need to find a small enough wire that is stiff enough not to 'unbend' under use.

    Hope this helps!

I wonder if someone could post a picture of just the wire by itself (i.e. unbolt it from the shooter). I need to see how to bend it properly, and what length it should be.

This would be a big help!

as ya can see from the pic i posted each versioin from each manufacture is a bit different..

keep in mind that having the wire close to the top of the curve but not touching at rest... and when at full pull it pushes the plastic the max with out over extending or puting it in a bind

    Hey Mack,

Here's a photo of the machine I had to replace the shooter manipulator on. This was after the install and unfortunately, it doesn't show the wire that clearly. However, I think it is close to what you have this photo may help you get it going. The wire I made is and upside down "L" shape (would that be a "7"?) with a small loop on the end that fit over the bolt on the shooter arm. Getting it to work right will most likely be a trial and error thing.

Anyway.. I know the photo doesn't show it the best way... so if this doesn't do it for you , let me know and I'll try to get a better shot.

    Good luck!

If you stretch the wire in a vise it will:
    1. make it straight
    2. work harden the core.

Use two pairs of needle-nose pliers when bending. Keep the object pliers steady while bend with the other.
16 or 18 gauge wire (the lower the gauge the thicker) should be plenty of strength.
