    Default Repair help?

My son was given a pachinko machine maybe five years ago as a gift. It worked fine at the time we got it and hasn't been used in a long while. I was going to give it to a friend for his rec room but when I plug it in now it's dead.

I'm way in over my head trying to repair something like this, and was wondering if I could hire somebody to do it for me. I understand that Republic Industries (from whom the machine evidently came in the first place) has gone out of business.

I live in the NY City area, and somebody local would be especially good. I'd be grateful for any help you can provide.

    Hello, Welcome to PachiTalk!!

When you say it's dead, you mean that nothing at all is working?? It doesn't power up??

Maybe something got knocked slightly whilst it's been out of use?? Could be something simple like a cable or connector that needs reseating?? or a problem with the transformer??

If you are able to post clear pics of your machine, I'm sure that would help the members to give relevant suggestions (if you're not sure how to post pics, this link will help )

Maybe the power button is turned off or one of the fuse is burned out.

I attach a picture of the playfield. As far as I can tell, there is no power button, although I wouldn't put it past me to miss one.

Sorry to be a photo pain... but we need a photo that shows the whole back side.. so we can see all the wires and such. In the second photo I can barely see the transformer on the lower right.. but can't see how it's wired in.

Mopar is right that the dongle looks to be missing from the back bottom right!! Although machines are sometimes modified so they don't need one..
    missingD.jpg

Now if it powers up when you plug it in but it just won't shoot then the missing dongle is most likely your problem!!

If its not doing Anything at all when its plugged in it might be something as simple as the power switch being turned off (although not all machines have power switches) or one of the wires on the transformer has just come loose..

It doesn't power up at all. That mean's it's not a dongle problem?

I definitely believe it could be a fuse or loose wire, but don't know where the fuses are, and, as you can see, there are a lot of wires. As for the on/off switch, I haven't seen one.

Hopefully someone will be along that has a similar machine that can help point out where fuses and stuff are to check..Until then I would start off by just checking the main power wire to and from the transformer and where it connects to the machine..I'm sure its probably something simple..it usually is
