Olympia Pachislo - Won't switch out of odds mode

This site rocks! I've been wanting to fix this machine for 11 years now!!

Still haven't... but I will with your help!!

I have an Olympia brand, Blue Marine themed Pachislo skill stop.

I've narrowed it down to basically not getting out of the Odd Change mode. I can cycle through the 1-6, but no resets or saves work whatsoever.

The keyed switch has no effect on entering or exiting the mode.

Power it on with the switch off, still enters the same mode!


So... I'm thinking either the keyed switch is bad and i can do the Radio shack replacement...

OR..

Is it possible that the play knob to save the mode isn't working?

The door key reset doesn't work and it seems like the coin validator device doesn't work right either.. Maybe a busted hidden fuse?


Hope someone can give me some ideas!

Hi and to PachiTalk ! ! !

First, re seat every plug in your Pachi.

If it stays in "select" mode no matter if the key switch is turned to the right or left then there "IS" a problem there. Second I would open up the assembly containing the key switch and check to see if one of the two wires has become disconnected. Some Pachi's require a closed circuit to set the Odds. Others require an open circuit. If one of the two wires came off re connectting it should FIX Da problem If not the switch might be shorted out and not opening the circuit if both wires are connected.

One questions for you.

1. After you set a 1 - 6 setting and hold the Spin knob for a few seconds does the display that you set from 1 - 6 go to zero?

If so then the Spin knob is doing it's job. You just can not get out of the settings mode. While in the settings mode most Pachi's have the door reset function disabled (turning the door key to the left)

Let us know and we will do ALL we can to get your Pachi back up and Running ! ! !

After selecting through the 1-6, pushing the knob down does not change anything. No zeros, no change whatsoever. I will pull apart the supply in a couple hours and check the wiring on the switch.

i would check the wiring on the start lever first and the board the wires go to,

it could be sticking and not centering too, have you tried tapping up and down both to set odds??

So after wiggling the wires on the switch i was able to power it back on in a "normal" mode.

The credit LED shows - - and the payout shows 0

No coins or quarters were able to change anything they just drop into the hopper.

I think the knob isn't working so i'll look into that next and get to radio shack in a few minutes for a better switch (the wiggling didnt fix it permanently!)

The knob is fairly loose and wiggles around too.

So i've fixed the switch to get out of the settings mode.

But still nothing when a coin drops.

The display still reads -- for credits and 0 for payout.

Im thinking it's the coin sensor. Is there any way to repair, replace or put a switch in for credits temporarily?

do the "tokens" drop into the tray or do they go into the hopper . pictures of the coin mech would help as well . on the coin mech rail should be a solenoid does that snap shut when the machine powers up ? it should to complete the path past the sensor if not the token should drop into the front tray. if the rail snaps shut take a token and insert it manually in the sensor path and hold it there you should get a coin failure error if it doesnt your sensor is faulty .if this is an old 1 sensor machine i can probably get you up and running temporarily as i said pictures would help inside and out and the coin mech .

The "tokens" drop into the hopper. When the machine is powered up the magnetic switch does engage and open the path for the coin.

Nothing happens when a coin is placed through or held between the sensor.

allot of the pictures are incomplete but i was able to see what i needed . suggest you unplug your coin sensor (its a double sensor by the way cant short it out to get a credit ) you should get an error . if you do reset it then put a token in the sensor (plugged back in ) and flex the connector back and forth see if you can get a jam error if you do then reset it and goto radio shack and get a pen called deox it has contact cleaner that deoxidizes the contacts it should help your problem .

Oh wow!

Got an error code for a few seconds and alarm sounds!!

E1 it displays and alarms for a few seconds then returns to the same screen.

What shall i do?


I dont think the lever/knob is working for a reset, can i manually replace the wires to a switch? it has the red/black/yellow.. Do i just ground the black and use a switch for the red/yellow?

So i tried wiring in a switch for the lever and still nothing. If that would work, it seems then i could do a reset! again at a loss of what to try next. I picked up the deox stuff, but havent sprayed in on yet. I will try that now, maybe then the sensor will read a coin?! i dont know!

Is there a live chat or somewhere we can talk faster?

After cleaning the sensor, the only change i've noticed is the "Insert Medals" sign above the coin slot is now on and flashing!

if thats flashing your in the game mode .now you need to get that coin mech up and running . wiring a switch in will not work so well this is a digital machine it reads voltage high or low on the switch leg.some machines short the switch leg low or short to the positive you need to find out which your machine needs .my olympia switches red to yellow (yellow the switch leg .red the hot. black is ground never short red to black ) you can substitute any of the other switches for the spin knob there all wired the same except the coin mech its wired with two switches in tandum they have to be signaled in order switch a .then switches a and b. then switch b only then it will show a credit. timing is also critical not so much to fast as to slow and youll get an error . it sounds like you have a bad pin in the plug you might want to try jumping fro the back of the plug to the sensor till you get it to respond to a token repeatedly .also remember the problem may be on the door side of the jumper to the coin mech as well . It sounds like your well on your way to getting it going keep it up and youll have it sorry you didn't come here alot sooner.

i assume that cn2 is the cancel button on the front of the machine and cn3 is your spin know .if thats so you can swap those connectors and use the cancel button as your spin knob to test the machine .

So from the board to the coin mech there are the 4 wires (red, brown, yellow and black.) Should i temporarily setup individual wires with switches to do the sequence to get a credit to make sure this is where the problem is?

Are there places that sell replacement sensors or even completely new coin mechanisms?

I swapped out every compatible switch to try to do a reset using the knob but nothing worked. Im thinking is it possible that something fried all circuits on the board? is there a fuse or someway to test if they work?

Could you post some pictures of the inside of your machine? Particularly the front of the power supply where all the switches and buttons are? It may be that you need to push one of the buttons on it to do the reset properly. I need to see your set up. some of the older ones have a slight variation in the reset and it may be your case.

I was able to get it to take credits and also engage the cancel to have it spit back out the amount in tokens. Still trying to get it to engage the spin!
