Now up to 22 replacements with the safety wire technique and they are holding great with no issues. One item we found is upgrade to an air stapler to staple down the wire with a 3/8" staple, it goes much faster and you can find them for about $40 now. If you have an air compressor buy one, it's worth the money. Or get an electric one, either way it makes the process go much faster.

I have done over 100 replacments using the original cotter pins with no problems.

That link mopar put up works. I am on iPad, and find most of the links are broken on the older posts (404). But I got that one.
i also got the bookfrom King which has tons of details as I have two that absolutely need replacement fields... and now realize I have to enlist help from my husband to separate the case pieces. He will be thrilled
to help me in my new endeavor. More paint comes today, and fixing more of the plastic pieces. Thank you!

Yeah, tried them all with no success. I get to the website OK but it throws a File Not Found error.

Now I get it on of them. There is a book on amazon written by someone here and it goes over all the steps of restoration in detail including changing the field. Well worth the $10. I looked at it 3 times today (and still could not separate my case, but so afraid of cracking something bad... my first...).
