Default Converting from Transformer to Battery

First, major thanks to Moparformances for helping get up on this forum. Thank you kind sir!

I've got an A machine from the 60's that currently uses a transformer, but I'd like to convert it to 9 volt battery. I've tried disconnecting the transformer and connecting the battery to the same posts (one red, one blue in photo), and at first that didn't work, but now it does for some mysterious reason (thanks Moparformances!). My new electrical issue is that the 3 lights that are supposed illuminate in the center of the field when you score all test good when I hook them individually up to the 9 volt battery, but don't light at all when you score. Is this possibly an issue of trying to light 3 bulbs with one 9 volt?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions

Might be the switch, I am having trouble with the switch on my Heiwa. If I make the switch contact with my fingers the lights work, but they will not light up during play. I have not had time to clean the contacts on it yet but I believe that will fix it. You may have the same problem or the wires could be bad in 1 spot.

Dang, it's always the simple things I forget to check. Thank you very much for the suggestion.

Hmmmmm, where exactly is the microswitch for the payoff lights? Is it possibly buried behind the tray of balls that feed the payout?

i think i see the switch near the location of the drop tube spring..

the balls drop from the top tray down the tube threw the spring to the second hopper ... to the right of that spring is were all the wires for the lights.. there should be a leif switch located in that location.. may be a micro switch but probably a micro switch..

this is a different kind of Model "A" but i zoomed in so ya can see the simple leif switch... its the white piece in the center of the pic

Thumbs up Re: Converting from Transformer to Battery

Yep, that little leaf switch was the problem. The contacts were dirty is all. Perfect. You've been terrific help. Thanks again.
