    Question Re: Parlor Pic!!

Wow, it seems those machines have quite a bit pf lean to them. Mine are nearly straight up and down.

Yeah they do seem to be leaning back a lot...I've never seen them set up like that in all the 60s-70's parlor pics and vids I've seen!!

I don't think they lean back. It's a wrong perspective probably caused by a wide angle lens or fish eyes lens type. Here's a modified pic.

These surveillance camera lens are build to cover the more room possible, but the farther an object is from the central lens point, the more it get distorted.

I tilted the photo to bring the two vertical line made by the far most part of the counter, only point we can be sure the line are vertical (walls are vertical). The orange lines show the alignment with this counter wall.

As you can see, the camera is placed on the ceiling, at one side of the counter, pointing toward the other side of the counter where the woman is sitting. Because the woman is sitting nearly on the central point of the lens, she is not too much distorted. The farther the object are on the side (like the pachinkos and men playing them), the more these objects are deformed.

So I would not start tilting all my pachinkos to match the photo hehehehehe

    lol..

of it seem that the origin of pachinkos come from nearly horizontal board, because of not enough room, the pachinko became vertical for saving space. So if you want to make your pachinkos look like more vintage, you can put them at an angle

As luckydog said, no chairs, so I suspect that these are not in a parlor, but maybe more in a convenience store for quick play.

Actually check out the video in post #5 at about 1:31...the first vid in this post the parlor has seats, but not this one!! No seats in the vid in post #10 either but all the pachis seem to be vertical!!

    Cool old vids

And check out around 2:08..great single shot technique!! You can see why they started putting in the hold area for multiple jackpots!!

Actually I recommend watching all the videos in that post..some of the best pachinko videos Ever!!

I think the slant on the left hand side of the 'window' on the machines is really neat. I want one of these older machines. I have 9 machines now... and I think I would like to make my collection a time line of sorts. Have each machine be spaced like 5 years apart so one could see the progression of the technology and play process.

    Cool stuff here!
