You said, "If you did the artwork." Did you have to touch up the artwork after you scanned it or what? Also, do you have a large scanner? It came out amazing! I would love to do that to the one I have had for 20 years.

I don't get why a ski themed machine has fish in the back ground. Many vintage also have generic flowers. I think they used a similar background and changed the play field toys, (tulips, centers etc.)
On your next project maybe you can mesh the background with the theme more.
I have several machines and hardly any of the backgrounds go with the theme. I think they used whatever they had. I've seen the same background, as on the ski machine, on other machines that have different themes. I'm planning on doing a custom background on a machine for my wife, similar to what the 50' woman pachinko machine's owner has done with an old movie poster. But right now, I just want to keep as close to the original as possible for reselling purposes. Because I have two of these that are the same and am in the process of doing them both. I'll put one of them up for sale after they are complete.

No, I don't have a large scanner. I scanned it in sections, at the highest resolution rate that I could work with on my computer, then used paint.net to piece the sections together. The way I did this was to create a blank page to the dimensions of the background, and then I did a copy & paste of each scan to it's appropriate location where it would appear on the background. Then I zoomed in as close as I could get and started doing touch-up around the artwork, giving me a margin. Once I had the margin around the artwork, the rest of it went fairly quickly.

I'm thinking that when I do the second ski machine, I'll photograph step by step the techniques I use for removing the old background, preparing the surface and applying the wrap to the background. Kind of like a "How to" and then I'll post it.

I don't know if you have a Mac or access to one, but the new Snow Leopard OS has a thing called Screen Record. It records exactly what your doing on the screen and you can speak the audio at the same time. Really cool!

It is for the most part done, I just need to adjust some pins but other than the adjustments, it is done. The beauty of having two of the same is you can do a before and after in one shot, the one I got from JACKSJE4 is on the left, but soon it will also look like the right one. Thanks for the support.

Whats the best way to remove the nails from the play field and around the tulips without destroying them?

i use a pair for pliers for the play field and a thin flat bar to start on the tulips... or a stiff putty knife

I use a XCELITE - 96CG - SHEARS and a modified Nibbling Cutter with a small block of wood. Check out http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/vint...-pull-off.html

Can you tell me the exact material you use to replace your playing field/cell. I just replaced one for the first time and it was reeeally hard to align it. It was very sticky and seems to scratch very easy. The print shop printed my new cell on 3M car wrap adhesive. I t seems very thin and I think will be difficult to keep cleanMaterial.jpgCell.jpg

I have included what my playfield is currently looking like and the actuall material used.

    Thanks in advance

The backgrounds are reproduced on 3M Graphic Film with v3 Adhesive. This is covered with a 3M glossy over laminate., that is a 2-mil film that can enhance gloss and provide additional ultraviolet and physical protection for selected digitally-imaged graphic constructions. I also cover with an pressure-sensitive Dura-Lar product in a 5-mil, medium-weight, clear film with permanent adhesive backing for extra protection to prevent long term wear.

It cost me more then other material to have printed but I like it and it is very forgiving. you may want to also read my step by step.
