Here is a schematic for a digital volume control, has anybody tried this on a Pachinko machine?

This would only work if you could tap into the audio signal on the pachinko machine before the amplifier circuit, as these digital potentiometer chips are designed to work on pre-amp level signals.

While this could be done by someone with enough electronics knowledge to build the digital volume control circuit, you would probably end up with worse quality audio than if you used the normal potentiometers/L-pads in the speaker leads.

The reason for this is that the audio circuits in pachinko machines are not of the best quality, and can have a fair amount of background noise and hiss. This is not a problem in the Japanese pachinko parlours, as they're so noisy you can't hear yourself think, let alone hear any electrical noise from the speakers.

Using pots/L-pads in the speaker leads cuts down this noise/hiss along with the volume levels. If line-level volume controls like this digital control circuit is used then the audio volume will be reduced, but the background noise will stay the same and be a lot more noticable.
