what gets me is the price difference between 400 and 800 balls

you can get 2 lots of 400 for 36.00 total.

or you can get the 800 lot for 42.00 total :?:

If I'm doing the math correctly...
    Republic's auction: 40@$9+$9S= 18/40= .45cents each.
    However,
Republic will sell you balls direct via Palpal @ .04cents per 1000 including shipping.
    (at least in my experience)

direct is cheaper than going thru ebay, they have fees that the seller pays :-( and they are only going higher Â… higherÂ…

Two of their auctions was $9.00 for 400 balls and each had $7.00 shipping. I bought them both for a total due of $32.00 for 800 balls. That works out to exactly .04 cents each shipped. There was "No combined purchase shipping discount" available which as an ebay seller and buyer I think is wrong. I do not nor ever will try to profit off my customers on shipping charges, but on the other hand.... I purchased in spite of high shipping cost because it was my best option for lowest cost overall for the 800 balls.
I emailed them for a quote on 1000 balls and price was $48.00 (including $8.00 for shipping). This works out to .048 each... nearly 5 cents each. I really need the balls now or I'd just wait for more cheap auctions to come along so I guess I'll go ahead and buy the extra 1,000 now. I does seem to me, that sellers could offer to sell additional items along with an ebay purchase and save their customer some on shipping but this was not my experience with Republic, their price quote does include $8.00 shipping cost added for the extra 1,000 balls.
On the subject of shipping... they could be using the new USPS FLAT RATE BOXES for things like balls and tokens at a cost of $7.70 per box no matter what the weight. Those boxes will hold Many Thousands of tokens or balls!!

just about all the vendors only use ups or fedex, they don't mess with usps.

slotusa does combine shipping on balls or tokens won on ebay, i saved about $6.00 on 2 - 1,000 ball purchases on ebay from them.

and if you buy them when you win a machine most vendors will just put them in the box with slott for no extra shipping.

I realize many sellers do not use USPS but that is their choice with no good reason for it!! I shipped thousands of books every week - I shipped thru the postal system. I could have set up an account with USPS and paid them every 30 days and so could other sellers. I chose not to, I used stamps which I bought for $850.00 for $1,000 face value from stamp dealers. This was profitable for me but even with that the post office came to my business everyday and picked up my packages. I Never Had to make a special trip to post office! They will do this for anyone!!! So, no business can use the excuse of "having to go to post office, make a special trip, to mail packages. You do need a set of good scales (if you aren't using flat rate boxes) and postage cost can be looked up on line. Also as most know postage can be purchased and printed online too.

USPS is finally getting smart. That $7.70 flat rate shipping for a certain size box knocks UPS and FedEX down and big. That's one heck of a deal for tokens, balls or any heavy item! That is certainly the way to go for this sort of product.

I went to ship out 1500 tokens with the 7.70 flat box rate and she told me that it saved me 12 dollars rather than shipping without flat box rate :!:

the only down side of the flat rate box is it's 7.70 even if it weights just 2 pound.

i found that out when i shipped something light out,

You're right, sometimes those boxes aren't the best choice, the PO also has other various size FREE Priority boxes that are for weight based mailing. I keep on hand some of all size boxes ordered online shipped to me free from post office. Plus if someone were shipping just 1 to 2 thousand tokens or balls those could be sent in a Flat Rate envelope. For extra protection you can get a SMALL Video Priority box free and package tokens/balls inside and then put it in the flat rate envelope - ship for only $3.85 anywhere in USA.

The post office, has the right to say no. to the any weigt in the box for one fee. Tried it and got a too heavy for the box. It seems you can not go over the rating of the box.

    Default cheap balls

I just won two separate ebay auctions from SlotUSA, each for 2000 balls at $56.26 + shipping of $21.75. That came out to a little over 3 cents per ball, about half their regular price.

    Arby,

The post office advertises that up to 70 pounds can be sent in the boxes as long as it does not distort the original proportions of the box.

I think someone was woofing you if they gave you that weight capacity of the box tale. The boxes have to be rated to 70 pounds burst strength or they couldn't offer them.

Was your box over 70 pounds?
