Default NEW PACHISLO BOOK - SOON !!!

Wandering around the net I ran into this website :

    http://www.vcslots.com

And low and behold on it's opening page is this :

For many slot enthusiasts, the Japanese Pachislo game is a fun and affordable at-home hobby. If you own a pachislo game, are thinking of purchasing one, or would just like to know more about them, this announcement is for you! I am currently writing a book on pachislo machines. This book will feature information on this history of pachislo, pachislo in Japan, information on various manufacturers, a comprehensive index of machines by manufacturer per year (with photographs), and guides to setting up your machine, setting options and troubleshooting.
This sounds very interesting as a book that covers it all would be a nice addition to most of our libraries :!:

Very interesting info. I was looking around the site and if you look really, really close at the picture of the Azteca Legend, I think I see (real small) StealthHomeAmusement.com ? Any affiliation or just "borrowed" his picture?

Actually, if you look really close, you'll see he gives credit to Stealth for that picture.

Still better have permission from Stealth. Giving credit does not make up for taking something if it is not yours.

I haven't seen the book nor do I have any idea the price of it. I do agree that everything is here and it would be a waste of money

Unless the book was written by somebody who is fluent in Japanese and is knowledgeable about Pachislos in their native tongue :-)... I'm not saying that this is the case, just that I think there is more out there to know, in Japanese :-)

There is a book on CD, already out there, It is wrote by a round eyes and at the time not bad, but now outdated. Doesn't cover the last three waves of new machines. The other info on there is what you will find here.

I agree, would need to be wrote by someone who has been there, played there in the last year. And would need a lot of access to information on the manuals that do come with the machines in Japan, but not here.

There is a paper back out there that does cover a lot of in the halls play and how to shoot your balls, but sadly it will over priced, and out dated also. Doesnot cover any of the last five or six waves of machines on our shores. Good Historic refrence book.

I will wait till such a book is wrote to get my panties in a bunch.

    IMHO

Though you guys are probably right, that most information in the book could be had here....It might be nice to have a reference book to refer to in a pinch. Of course it would depend on it's cost and how much info is actually in the book. Some of us haven't been around this hobby very long, so it could be helful to us. Though having said all this...every question I have asked here has been answered (and very quickly I might add)...so when it's published we will see if it's worth it or not. :-)

P.S. This might be a good time to thank all of those who have helped me over the past few months....THANKS!!!

    Default Pachislo book

    Hello,

While browsing this forum, I came across this message thread. I found it quite interesting!

I am the owner of ICS Gaming. While I have been working mostly in the casino gaming industry, the pachislo industry is of interest to me. I currently write for 10 magazines in 5 countries and am published in 4 languages. If anyone here subscribes to Strictly Slots, I will have an article in the March 2005 issue.

I am currently working on the pachislo book. The image of the pachislo machine is from Milt's site, and yes, I have obtained permission from him to use the graphic.

The book is going to cover the pachislo industry in Japan and in the US. I have made contact with many manufacturers and industry personnel over there (some are the same companies that are involved in casino gaming), and have learned quite a bit about the machines. In the book I will get into some of the technical aspects and just how the machines work inside.

I will also include a section on the North-America industry. I will cover Milt's operation with a tour and a lot of photos. I am also working with Big Bear Pachislo for information, etc.

I hope that the book is not just what is found on this forum, but more detailed information. I plan on including a summary of machines produced by manufacturer by year.

I am also going to be looking for input from players . This forum seems like a great place for the pachislo enthusiast. One chapter will be devoted to a discussion and interview with a 'pachislo nut'. Basically, I want to find someone with enough machines that people might think it excessive, but then show the all-American side and the hobby. For example, some people have a Friday-night poker game, why not a Friday-night pachislo game? With my involvement in the gaming industry, I will draw a number of parallels between pachislo and the Las-Vegas type game, and include the future demographics of the slot player.

I have had about 40 articles published in 10 magazines and am working on 2 books for the gaming industry as well. I have provided training for casinos and gaming commissions, and like the look of these pachislo games. While some may consider them 'toys', they are really technological wonders, with many of the same components - stepper motors, hoppers, optics, EPROMS, etc. etc.

I will be looking for input, and hope to speak with many of you in this forum. Please, don't be a stranger. Feel free to contact me through this forum, of if you wish, via email at jwilson@icsgaming.com

I think that the pachitalk forum could get some good exposure in this book. It does appear to be the place for pachislo/pachinko fans to congregate!

    Talk to you soon!

    Welcome ICS Gaming !

    You stated :
I will be looking for input, and hope to speak with many of you in this forum.
I know you won't have to worry about getting input as you have already seen what a few have to say about it. Don't get discouraged as we all tend to come around after understanding the possibilities of new items like yours.

This Pachislo forum is proof that there is a large market out there for Pachislo related items. Pachitalk.com is approaching 700 members and will be at over 1000 members soon with more joining everyday.

Have you also considered a small magazine or newsletter for Pachislos that could be printed every 2 or 3 months to start? I am sure that finding advertisers would not be a problem for that. A newsletter/magazine would make it easier to be on top of the Pachislo world on a more timely matter and would be a good partner with your book in the long run.

In any case I am glad you stepped forward and are wanting input.

As far as the person with the most Pachislos it would have to be arbycoffee. Contact him and put his picture in your book  You will find that deep down he is a good person to have discuss the current Pachislo markets etc.

    Again : Welcome !

Cool, nothing like giving the state governments more ammo to ban pachis!

Personally I would appreciate you taking that into consideration while you write your book, other than that it sounds like it might be an interesting read.

Good point ! If it is just said they are like Las Vegas machines. But if he goes into the eye shooting aspect in his book and compares it then to what Las Vegas machines do it could actually help as it maybe could be considered that eye shooting has some skill to it?Just a thought...

But I don't know  ... I just got back from Prescott Az. and played at an Indian casino that had Men In Black video slots. You can actually stop the reels by touching directly on them ! Then we played a few more new video slots and they all were that way! Of course they are moving so fast that it was hard to even consider eye shooting on them.

These are Toys, to 99% of owners. Please present them as such.

Us little people don't have much that is our enjoyment, That Big Gov. doesn't get a taste of. We have these, YOU give them the powder to take them too.

Your name will in my Book, will be listed with the "Take & Taxers" who always want to take away all our enjoyment or tax the hell out of it.

Your books a bad idea, right a cook book! I would buy that!
