Default Anyone know of this machine?

This is an ad from a local online classified for a Pokermate draw poker game. I've included the text from the ad. I am tempted to purchase.. .but haven't had experience with this type of machine before. Can anyone give me some info on it? The asking price $100 and he doesn't appear to want to budge off that number.

Ad contents: For sale is a 1988 P&M Pokermate Draw Poker slot machine. In good condition. No reset key (I bypassed with a wire) and tumbler functions, but doesn't distribute coins. Has credits and I can show you how to add more.

    Thanks in advance! Rusty

One of the old ones. The main problem with these are the monitors. You move it it might not work again. Somebody has taken the coin units off of it or altered them which reduces the value. You have a machine that you can replicate on your computer for nothing and it does take up alot of room. I am sure that you would get awfully tired of it after a short time. Half of the fun is in the coins and that is taken away with this one. Just got rid of a 31 game machine that I had for only about four months.

I will not have another one that even pays.

You should go for it. Any poker machine that excepts coins for $100 or under is a killer deal. Even from the 80's.

As long as it works that is.

Chrisdice probably would know something about this game. I agree with Microbus, if it works a hundred bucks can't be beat, Go for it.

Thanks for the advice so far. It's good to see comments for both Pro and Con. I'm still undecided so if anyone else wants to chime in...

I tend to agree with LT about the coin / payout. If I do get the machine, I'm gonna want to get that part working... as he said.. that's the big fun/bonus of it. So if anyone can advise on that part of it.. difficulty, availablity for parts, etc., that would be great!

I think it has more problems than it is really worth after reading the caption again. It does not dispense coins either. Would have to go and see this one before I spent the money on it and be sure and look hard at the monitor. Old ones tend to burn the cards in the screen and look awfully fuzzy. Monitors are not cheap and probably are hard to find for this old a machine. Do not get me wrong i like video poker but this machine only has the one game on it. My two cents again.

unless it is in 100% working condition with a perfect monitor ,i would probably pass on it .

Just get it, P and M's are not bad, just older. You can get a hopper pretty easy and figure out what is wrong with it.

The price is right, but I agree w/LT. If you're looking to fill a hole in your room with this machine, it'd be perfect. But one game, unable to dispense coins; it would probably fill the role of 'looking pretty in the corner' rather than being played with. The price is right, though.

the price is fine snap it up ,if something is wrong with the monitor they sell a vga conversion card for them now .also you can gut it and make a mame machine out of it .I have the roms for the old p.e. draw poker and video slots if you need them .The big part is you already have the buttons all installed .
    ______________________________________________________
also when you gut the machine youll be able to make your money back easily parting it out on ebay .I did with my video slot made $70 on the monitor alone not to mention the boards and power supplies people are looking for these parts to keep theirs alive .
