first pix of the cyclic vader.

only problem is that I forgot to bring a key and a transformer to salinas from berkeley. wife will bring on tueday.

until then, are these switches stock? can anyone tell me what the toggles are for? I am guessing the pots are volume controls.

kiai did a great job packing, the bubble wrap on the outside is a nice touch. I lauged at first, but then realized that maybe they have to be more gentle with packages wrapped that way, so they don't rip or damage the bubble wrap? maybe something I will try next time.

    8個保留 - 8 pending items

    自働回転 = Own work rotation

You'll figure it out when you turn it on

I'm pretty sure they're to stock spins automatically, user installed, not factory. Very professional though.

Your gonna love that case when it lights up. You have to have balls in it for it to light up properly, although if it's cyclic, they probably have bypassed that.

    vader is working. some questions.

finally got the transformer, key and pachinko all in the same place...

the balls recirculate back to the upper tray, so you only need about 20 balls. I actually like this feature. there is no jackpot payout, but no balls to schlep!

the "8 pending items" switch is a mystery still, but the "own work rotation" switch makes the virtual reels spin without having to hit the start pocket or shoot balls. kind of nice, actually, as I can hear the sound track and watch the screen, without getting hand/arm spasms from holding the shooter knob

I am wondering if my vader is off track. behind the star wars logo is a black thing that shook a bit and didn't come down beyond 1/2 inch. is this the mask that was sticking on some people's machines?

this is a very cool conversion and very professional looking. I will look around a bit more in the back and take detailed pix, but does anyone know how to do this conversion? do they add a board to send ball start signals and disable the jackpot circuit? daverob, do you know how they do this?

I would actually be tempted to do this on other machines.

is gaku's anything like this? his is nicer b/c it also has win/loss counters, to show how much you would have lost at the parlor.

    Hey Mudfud,

Your Vader Mask should come down on every start up of the game. Much like the light saber and the R2 units, they do a "test" run on all their movements. During certain parts of the game, the mask will come down about 2 inches, I would call that a "tease" Other times it will come down across the entire screen...you will have to keep playing to find out more
I had to take apart most of the cell to get to the mask and was able to get it back on track. Let me know if you need help.

    For a start:
    1. Remove the cel from the frame and lay it face down on a table
    2. Start removing circuit boards till you get to the LCD panel.
    3. Remove the LCD panel. The mask should be right behind that.

All the connections should be unique (color, number of pins, etc...) or the cables will only reach so far, so there shouldn't be too much of a problem there. Everything but the LCD should come off with just clips or catches, the LCD should be 2 to 4 screws.

    OK. I'm going in.

will dissect the cyclic vader down to the mask and report back.

I am most curious how the dongle hookup is modified, what kind of circuit they added to make it auto-spin, and how they modified for fully cyclic.

will report back in a few hours. pix and video to come.

i'm back! vader is working, but I did not have to take her apart.

the machine is balanced on my wall of pachinko with one tip-over wire. I opened the door and nearly had a machine in my lap, then had trouble shutting the door.

somehow I jostled things enough that on the next startup, the mask descended! yipppeee, no starwars dissecting for me today.

other tech is not cooperating so well, however. the euromat got the timer start solenoid stuck (I swear I didn't do anything to cause this, even if I was moving the playfield a bit to level it). took an hour to get this working again, and I am not even sure how I fixed it!

wife had frustrating morning with taxes and printer that would not print from adobe a pdf file... I almost flooded the laundry room trying to change a faucet washer... time for the professional plumber...

seems that a lot of tech things and mechanical things are just not cooperating with me this week. urrgghh. my airy fairy friends say that mercury is in retrograde, but I looked it up and that is not until april 18th

so, I am going out again to the game room. hopefully with more success.
