Too bad I just discovered that it has no mechanics. Totally gutted. Sad.

Question: What did Siouzan want even MORE than an Arepachi?
    That's right-- an Allwin!

It's like an early Xmas around here. This thing is like a museum piece, bought at auction in the early 80s and packed away ever since. Bright, clean graphics, perfect chrome. Wow!

What a steal at $75. And, luckily Cystic was nice enough to spare me a bidding war in the nice lady's driveway. I owe him one for that.

I think she was mistaken about it being gutted. It looks all there to me, but I know nothing about these machines. Don't even know where to start, but looking forward to figuring it out.

Cystic called tonight and discovered that my Pachitalk name is actually me masquerading around as my wife. How embarassing. Speaking of which, I'll have to break this little purchase to her soon-- 4th one this week. But, I'm tired of living in fear. I will stand up proudly as a an addict. I have rights, dammit!!!

Oh crap, here she comes... gotta go

    Shhhhh... the wife.
Good Lord, you're making a scene. She already is asking me why even after a most heinous work week, I'm skipping around like a little girl.
Pictures forthcoming, of course. Patience, Grasshopper.

I responded to the ad within 5 minutes of it being posted, she happened to advertise it as a pachinko and didn't know what she had, I happened to be online at work, and it happened to be 5 minutes from there. He hadn't a chance-- Bwa-ha-ha.

Hey, how is it you know so much about him and his whereabouts? Spooky.

Tell him maybe I'll trade him for an Arepachi or 2... nah.

    Okay, please view album here:
Allwin pictures by vonhowlitzer - Photobucket

    Few problems:
Hinge parts missing on both hinges. They are rather odd, so hopefully I can come up with replacements.
Lock keys missing. Not needed on top door, but needed on lower compartment where losing coins go. Locksmith?
Not sure what all is missing in the mechanics, but at the very least the winning coin tube. Hmmm.

Still, I need to go caress it now. Is that so wrong?

Good find on that video. Lots of good Allwin(and early pinball) vids on youtube.

Still, I need to go caress it now. Is that so wrong?
Hell No! I would do the Happy Banana Dance:

    Then every 15-20 mins later:

    again.

I bet you wake up the wife giggling about it in bed some time tonight even.

Lock keys missing. Not needed on top door, but needed on lower compartment where losing coins go. Locksmith?
Locksmith or Lockpick(then locksmith). Anything in the bottom box rattling around?(Is it still locked?)

Has the mechinism been modified to return the coin to the bottom tray?(Free Play?)

What a steal at $75. And, luckily Cystic was nice enough to spare me a bidding war in the nice lady's driveway. I owe him one for that.
Remember that when an Arepachi or PowerFlash shows up in the area.

Below is a pic of what it looks like and what it should look like. I will be up in your area the second week of April and I hope to stop by and try it out.(and the 50ft tall woman)

    So get busy and

    ENJOY!

There is something rattling around in that locked compartment. Pennies from Heaven (or England), perhaps.

Looks like your having too much fun. I noticed it but was not something I really want to start collecting. I will leave you the Allwins and you can leave me .

I will continue to look for everything .

I got good news and bad news on the new Allwin.

The bad news is that the coin payout reservoir tube and payout slider mechanism are entirely missing. I don't think I could find one as a model, so I'll have to wing it.

Interestingly, the coin slot had a fitted metal plate blocking one from putting a coin in the machine at all. I did not see this until I pulled it apart. Does anyone know if it was common to render these non-coin-operable once upon a time? Maybe for legality/sale reasons? This would also explain the missing payout mechanisms. What it doesn't explain is how you would play it at all then. I can't get it to deposit a ball without triggering the coin slot mechanism.

Speaking of which, does anyone happen to know the proper ball diameter for this machine? I've read for Allwins in general that there were 3 sizes-- 1/2, 9/16, and 3/4"

The good news is that after mucking around with the machine, I think I can build a payout mechanism of my own design, based loosely on reality. And, while I'm at it, it appears that it should be relatively easy to convert it from ancient British pence to US quarters, which would be convenient. I should also be able to make it payout more than one coin if I wish. Not sure if I'd want to though, not knowing the percentage of balls that will land in winning pockets on average.

So, I have a bit more work than I bargained for... as usual.
