    Default Tulip sticker replacements

I talked with Sid and got the OK.

This thread is a continuation of my post from this thread here:

    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/vint...p-restore.html

In that thread I said this:

My machines that have the stickers on them are all a bit faded. They look kind of orange-red to me almost the colour of the tulip petals.

If someone has an unfaded one and can say for sure, then please say something.

If you want a custom colour I can do that too but I would like a consensus on the standard "Red" first please.

The colour chart can be found here: http://www.gspinc.com/downloads/PDF/...20_225_280.pdf

The last page has colours that are almost triple the price of the first two pages.

The color I would choose for mine would be "Warm Red"

Now for a price...hmmm... The hard part is payment method as change does not mail well.

How about $2 for the first 4 and $1 for each next 4.(you will get an extra one or two as they can be tricky to get on when that small)

Custom colours(the third page of metallics and reflectives) add $2 to the total.

    Does that sound fair?

I think we should all agree on a "Red" first and then decide on the next colour as I would need to buy the material by the yard and if you are the only one that wants four of that colour I would be out the difference.

I am open to any and all suggestions about price, payment and colour selection so lets hear them if you have them.

Also, whom do I contact on the board to find out if this is OK to do? I don't want to take advantage of someone else's work of maintaining and supporting this fine board without their permission and donating a percentage back to here.

After making and trying them out I will send 8(instead of 4) for the first order as they can be really tricky to apply the first few times.

    To install the replacement:

Clean and polish the tulip and clean the area with a little alcohol.

Remove the replacement from the backing using an x-acto knife with an acute blade starting at the bottom and work side to side and move upward being careful not to stretch the piece.

Reverse the piece and place it onto the back of the blade so you can place the piece bottom first onto the tulip.

Place a few drops of water into the "well" area where the sticker goes and "float" the piece gently into place positioning with the x-acto starting at the bottom.

Once in place blot the water out with a piece of paper towel and then burnish down lightly.

If you need to remove the sticker a little alcohol will remove any adhesive residue.

    Enjoy the new look.

If I still worked at the sign shop I would give them away for a SASE as I could add them to the margins(weed area) of ongoing projects. I may yet regain access to the "rainbow room"(vinyl storage) at my old shop as I might volunteer my services to them as they are doing really bad right now. When I was lead production designer there I had to keep 16 people working just in fabrication and now they are down to 3 part time workers total and the owner.

I am still open to any and all suggestions about price, payment and colour selection so lets hear them if you have them.

The pics below are in the only colour I have on hand and is not the right type of vinyl for this application. If you look close(poorly seen in the pics) it has a crosshatch pattern on it. Also note I am still tweaking the final size. The current one in the pic is as good a fit as the originals but not quite where I want it but I will wait to get the proper vinyl to make the final size.

    On the way to you.

I would amend my instructions above to replace a drop of water with a drop of alcohol. You can replace the stickers while still installed in the machine but it is much easier to do when they are removed. If done in the machine I would remove the glass and close the door to get it out of the way and lay the machine flat on its back.

    Good Luck, Post Pics.

hmm...might need a couple white ones. good stuff!
This game induces a kind of hypnosis, a strange feeling of happiness. Winning is hardly important. But, time passes. You lose touch with yourself for a while, and merge with a machine and perhaps you forget, what you always wanted to forget.....
