    Default Pachislo online monitoring capability

Do pachislos have online monitoring capability connected to a central computer(s) to monitor activities. Activities such:

    coin in jam
    coin out jam
    hopper empty
    reel error
    door open
    locked out
    pay out
    jack pot
    number of coins inserted......

I think the answer is NO to all of the above. This is an odd question, but
these are some of gaming device requirements, regulations and specs for most of the 50 states "EGD" electronic gaming device law.

It keeps some memory. If you turn it off it remembers how many coins are in Credit and I am sure a payout would be the same in the event it was paying out and the power went off.

They're talking about the pachislo connected via Ethernet or some other protocols to a server(s).

I'm sure the casino interface monitors several of those characteristics (coin-in, coin-out, error conditions, resets and pay-out data.) I don't see any evidence of a method to monitor door-open on these machines like Vegas does. I'm also fairly certain that the casino interface would not be something standard like Ethernet. I'd guess it's a highly specialized systems that only exists in Japanese casinos. It might be possible to monitor the pin outs on the board, and see if there are voltages that could be monitored by a PC.

If I dig up some of my old college stuff, we used to use the parallel port to monitor up to 8 inputs. It might be possible to come up with a cable and a program that would allow a PC to keep track of what the machine is doing.

I seem to remember a thread on another forum with more technical details of the interface.

Actiually it would be very simple to implement monitoring up to eight parameters via a parallel port. Monitoring more parameters or more than one machine simultaneously would be better effected via a serial or USB port but would require an interface in each machine.

With the parallel setup, lines could be connected directly to PCB points and switches. The only hardware required would be a buffer IC to insure isolation, which could be placed within the hood of the parallel port connector on the PC end of the cable. A simple Visual Basic program could effect a decent software interface.
