a small update on this machine. i haven't played it in quite awhile but recently enjoyed a bunch of games now that it is mounted on the wall and readily accessible. anyway, to recap, this machine came from YJA with no circuit boards so i had some made. the instruction placard didn't fit this machine's game play in that it described a 3 digit LED that "spins" on game start and opens tulips for varying lengths of time depending on what numbers come up. this same feature is on several of my taiyo challengeballs. interestingly, this arrangeball never had nor could be outfitted with an LED display as it is currently so either the factory made one instruction card for this machine and the other model with the LED (which I have seen) or this one was put on accidentally. who knows. anyway, i had to make my own rule set to program the chips with so i made it as close to what i thought was original. in regards to the bonus feature i wasn't too far off the mark i'm pretty sure, now that i've seen quite a few machines with the same type of bonus. basically a ball in the bonus in the original machine lets the player choose which pocket's number lights in the matrix to make a completion. actually, on this satomi a ball in a pocket lights 2 numbers. on mine you can choose the pocket but you don't get the numbers lit. it opens the pocket via a solenoid so that you can then shoot for that pocket. the catch is that you only have 3 seconds to quickly scan the unlit numbers to choose the best option. it's harder than the original setup but you do get a coin paid out for landing in the bonus pocket.
