    Default Cheap Barstools

I just bought 4 barstools at Menard's for about $17 each. They're birchwood, 29" high, asthetically pleasing and seem pretty comfortable for an unpadded stool, far as I'm concerned...but then, I'm relatively well padded in that area, sooo......Anyhow, Menard's also is currently running a sale by me (southeast Wisconsin) - anything you can fit in this silly brown paper bag that they hand out when you walk in the door is 17% off. The stools didn't fit. I almost checked. But if you need other 'goodies', it might be worth a look.
I give the stools a thumbs up....

I get the cheap folding ones at Wal-Mart about $10 for tall ones, and about $8 for short ones depending on the cabinet the machine is on. I have a few of the slip-on pads to spruce them up a little.

What is Menard's? Is this a national chain? Sounds like a great deal to me!

Menard's might be a midwest thing? It's like Home Depot.

It's official....I'm an idiot, but Tulsa's trying like California to make me look good. so, without further ado......here is a pic of 2 of the 4 barstools, set up in front of the cabinets, next to the little stackable footstools (Menards for another $9 each) under the countertop section, which is, of course, under the machines....All furniture pictured was purchased from Menards, which is now officially my boyfriends LEAST favorite store.

Hi tatoodedlady. I'm pretty close to you. I live 15 north of west bend. I do painting and wood finishing for a living. The bar stools look good but the bar behind them does not look finished. Are you doing some remodeling? If you need some advise or tips on staining and finishing let me know. If you don't do that stuff your self let me know too I can always use some play time on machines I don't have!

Laz, that set of cabinets is unfinished oak...bought it from Menards *my happy place*, and I want to finish it in a similar shade to the stools and this blanket chest I bought. Only problem is, they're 3 different types of wood (pine, birch, oak), so matching them is probably not a happening thing. I don't mind so long as they're close. I'll have to think on what type of finish I want, I just know I want it durable.

The barstools look like they are clear coat. Is all the rest of the woodwork and trim in the house clear? It did not seem that way in picture. We don't usually recommend making a drastic color difference in the woods in the house. Although people have made the cabinets in the house clear or a liter color than the rest of the woodwork. In the end it is what they wont. The different woods do take a shade differently even if they stay clear. Sometime you have to put up with it or sometimes we can custom mix the stain to get things to match up better. We custom mix all our stain. As for a Finnish we seal the wood after it is stained then sand it then tow coats of lacquer. Lacquer is something that needs to be sprayed. Other products can be brushed on but is unlikely to get the same quality as a sprayed finish. PM me I can help you out. Laz.

I'm a goofy one (go figure)....I have dark wood throughout the house, but I don't like it. Anything I'm bringing in that's not painted I'm gravitating toward blonde-ish colors. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets are getting painted over the course of whenever I get rockin' on those projects (it's a do-it-myself project I actually look forward to doing). So far as spraying on a finish...I'm sure it gives a better finish and all, but I'll just do the old paintbrush applications. But thanks for the advice and all.

We get jobs in Hales Corners from time to time. We get off on 108th and it is usually down Janesville Rd or Forest Home.

What's all this talk about cheap brothels? Is this really the type of thing where you want to bargain hunt? Does this really belong in this thread?

    Thanks. Roseanna Rosannadanna.
