My Sindbad has auto stop but I cant find the board that makes it do auto stop. Do some machines come with auto stop built in?

but, to save wear on the steppers motors, the reels will stop themselves after awhile if you don't press any buttons

Most auto stops can be shut off,or if your quick enough overridden.
If you can determine the model you have, instructions are around.

This is important during certain chance rounds when stopping the reels in a specific order is important

Yes, Mine Will work on your Machine. Does you Token Acceptor Look like the (picture # 6) in the Below Link? I posted the pictures but the Below Link also lists the various Model Pachislo's of which yours is a Sammy.

If so you will need an AS-03 NO AutoSLot.

Here are the "Instruction" for the "Other Guys" autostop. :

"To DISABLE the Reel autostop function, press the Skill-Stop button on the LEFT when the reels are stopped. To RE-ENABLE the autostop function, press the RIGHT AND CENTER buttons at the same time when the reels are stopped". The instructions do not say how long to hold the depressed buttions but I would try holding them for 3 seconds, then release.

To keep myself out of trouble here... Your Popeye is a 2005 Pachislo which I just discovered. You stated that your Sindbad had the autostop in it.

Does your Popeye have the same "Stop" board in it that the Sindbad which the installed autostop is installed on does? A picture of the "Stop Board" is below.

If so then the above post is accurate. If you do not have this "Stop Board" than this Pachi is of the new designed machines that do not use one such as Star Wars, Spider Man 2, Shake II and Indiana Jones.

These (New) Pachi's can be set up with my AutoSlot but this is New Territory and each new Machine will require information gathered and a new design made. Currently the Star Wars and Indiana Jones have been made. I am currently researching Spiderman 2 which is a 2006 Sammy Machine, one year newer than yours.

I will be giving an Update on AutoSlot this weekend in the Threads I have started on it and will be opening up the Member Q & A Thread also on Machines everyone owns.
