My hopper runs non stop any ideas why?? If I switch the hopper off game play works but once I turn it back on get error message

try hitting the little red button on the outside of the door, it may be stuck.
also do the same with the buttons on your power supply.

Some models have a hopper dump switch making it easier to service.
Leave the hopper off and play the game. The machine will not pay out tokens until you registered 50 credits or if you push the coin return button.
What type of error message are you getting?

Its like an E8 I believe but it also displays HC??? and says ERROR on the screen

Both are hopper errors.
Could you post a pic of your switches. You can't really shut the hopper off
Have you pulled the hopper and check the cable.
Take the top of the hopper apart and clean what you can get to. Pay particular attention to where the coins get returned there's a sensor there.
