Default Transformer question.. too much wires...

I have an old Fuji frame and there's a transformer already attached to it. The frame come directly from Japan.

On the power cord side, there's three red wires and three white wires. The power cord is attached to a red and a white wire.

all the remaining wires (two red + two white on the power side, two yellow the other side) are connected to the machine.

Here is a pic of the wiring:

I know the transformer with 2 wires for source and two or three wires for the 24v side, but this one really confuse me.

anyone have seen this kind of transformer before, with all these wires. what the purpose of the wires?

    Thank-you for any information.

From the information you've given, I could only make wild guesses at the reasons for this wiring. Photos of the transformer and the circuit boards it's connected to would make it much easier to give an opinion, as would identification of the game in question and any markings/writing on the transformer.

there not much writing on the transformer.. A paper to the top with these number:

    57-0210
    2N-P1

The bottom board with the fuse. It seem to control the motor for the shooter.FujiTrans02.jpg

Not too sure as this frame is a bit earlier than ones I'm familiar with. Maybe someone who has a similar Fuji frame will have a better answer.

It looks like the transformer is an original part of the frame, both from the mountings and the fact that the connection to the board at the top of the frame is labelled トランスヘ which when pronounced sounds very similar to transformer.

I'd take a guess that it's just an isolating transformer, or one that is just to drop down the AC voltage for some parts of the machine which need lower voltages, and the machine still runs of the normal 24v AC and will need a separate transformer to run from a regular household AC supply.

Mr-fixx has a game in this frame, might ask him about it.

    Sounds right though, Daverob

    Thank-you very much daverob

    Thank-you compirate

Well Lucky, if you are right, then I make a big booboo when I received it. I have a Step Down transformer to 100V for my pica cell cleaner. So I tried to plug the transformer in the 100V of the Step Down Transformer. Seen a little flash near the frame transformer, but I'm not sure what burn out. it was mote like to the left, behind the plastic. maybe something on the the bottom board with the fuse. Also the fuse of my step down transformer burn out.

Sound like it's more junk frame than ever now..

Hopefully it just did something to that board for the shooter motor and nothing else. The rest of the frame doesn't do much without a game in it.

well, actually I bought the frame mostly for the shooter.. since it's a motor, not much electronic, I was thinking I could hook it up to have the frame working, and attempt to do custom cells to go in it..

I hooked up a 24vac transformer to the other transformer. The one with the frame was a step down transformer.. the wires on the sides of the power cord are all 24vac, the two wires on the other side of the transformer give 10vac.

it's seem that not much have fried in the frame. Or I still don't know what have fried hehehe
