Default Front glass on older vintages

Can someone enlighten me on how one would open the glass and access the cell on the older machines that lacked the more common chrome, framed door?
    Examples below.
    Thanks!

mine of that vintage have glass that slides out the top. there is a small slot you can push the glass through. on one of the matuya's, I had to loosen the screws a bit to allow the glass to slide through. pix below is the masamura.

Wow, that would make it especially fun to access the back to retreive the ball bin, work on the machine, etc.

Thank goodness for the modern technology of hinges!
