I don't typically visit this section of the board, because I'm not a huge pachislo player. I do play from time to time and try out new machines for a laugh, but for the most part, I find pachislo less fun than pachinko. To each their own...

Anyway, for the newest Evagelion, I'm making an exception.

This is, without a doubt, the most fun I've ever had on a pachislo.

First off, the design is top-notch. Two animatronics (Eva head and hand) in a normally anamatronicless world and a flash crystal (which is what I'm calling the crystal looking thing above the wheels and below the screen). Also, if you're a Rei fan (I am not so much) the lower portion is not a decal sticker. It's a full-scale action figure placed behind a transparent plastic shield (much like what protects the animatronics on top).

Second, the animation quality is their best yet. I have played the previous two and they do keep improving.

Music and bonuses? There are 3 super big bonus movies, a big bonus movie, a regular bonus, and 3 premium movies (which you can trigger on super big bonuses by lining up the 3 Evangelion symbols).

The flash crystal is perhaps the best part of the machine, in my opinion. Typically, pachislo relies on on-screen prompts to let you know you have a chance and should be shooting for a cherry or watermelon (suika)... this one goes "KA-CHAAAAAAAAAA" and lights up the crystal as white, blue, yellow, red, or on certain "You win!" times, rainbow.

You get a LOT more reach action with this machine than previous versions, but this also means you will lose a lot more. Basically, if the flash crystal hasn't gone off or you aren't looking at a bubble-pattern title (or one of the two very long reaches), you probably haven't won (chance is easily under 20% and more often under 9% depending on the character, reach, etc.).

Wheel design, which is normally not worth mentioning, is top notch. You can see every main symbol clearly as it spins. Thought was put into this one to make it easier on the eyes, unlike many many other pachislo I can think of.

Oh, last note. This one includes Mari, or whatever her name is. The newest character to be added to the roster for Gainax to cash in for a third time on the existing series. So don't be surprised by the addition of a 4th Eva piloted by a glasses wearing girl. She's not premium girl (which I used to use as a term for Rei on the older Evangelion pachis since seeing her was often a win) and for that matter it's been a long time since Rei has been too.

No, premium girl is Kawaru (actually premium boy) as it's been for the past two versions of the pachinko too.

Basically, there are only two pachislo I would ever own. This is one of them. Queen was the other, but that one was a limited edition / no sale allowed model so I suppose this would be it.
