    Default My machine (first post)

Well, I'm not sure about the details of the machine so I'll just post a few pictures of it.

    Sorry for the bad quality

My father purchased it for my brother and I for $30.

    It reads Daiichi New Vanguard.

Welcome to PachiTalk Tackynames... your machine looks to be in really nice condition. Was it that way when you got it or did you do some restoration? I think $30 was a great price!

This is the condition we bought it in. We got it from an estate sale. The original price was $80 but we were able to haggle it down to $30.

Oh yeah and another thing, How come it says New Vangurd on the bottom and it says New Vanguard in the center portion of it?

Welcome to your new family !!

They put New Vanguard on the two places so people would know what machine they are/were playing

welcome to pachitalk. that machine is very close to my first, that started my whole addiction (that and pachitalk, of course)

the japanese weren't so great about spelling some times. I have a nishijin where they misspelled nishijn on the back.

more entertaining is when the japanese translate things into "english"

I had a can of lemon lime soda once that had an abstract cat sitting on a cafe chair and said "the gentle stream of time is just yours" on the bottom

anyway, you are sure to be finding more gems at local craigslist and garage sales.

your first is really in mint condition!

Perhaps it is just my eyes failing me... but that playfield looks to have NO staining and the nails are bright and shiny. It is rare to see a newly acquired vintage be in such nice condition and for a really great price.

There doesn't seem to be staining nor much damage to it. And yes the nails look shiny to me.

    Was I that lucky?

Yes, you were pretty lucky, I'd say. I have never seen a vintage machine in person... but as you know by now, we LOVE pics... and I look at all of them. I would say that most of the vintage machines that I've seen on here have moderate staining on the playfield due to moisture seeping in around the nails. I've read that it is possible to improve the look with a good cleaning, but not possible to remove that moisture damage.

If you look at some of the pics of vintages, you will see halos (for lack of a better descriptive word) around the nails, it is a different look than the nail shadows that I see on yours.

While the members here with vintages just love to restore them to their former beauty, one of the more tedious jobs is shining up all those nails... YES, I'd say you are that lucky!

    yep u are lucky

that center jackpot is interesting to me.. the balls are held around the old school "pop bottle cap" center.. but above that is what looks to me a obscured but see threw plastic.. when a jackpot is paid can u see the balls pass threw/behind it???
