Default kyoraku with vegas showgirls, from hawaii

well, my new brother-in-law apparently rescued this from a dump a few years back and wasn't a pachinko person. he found out that I was and my sister got this packed and shipped from Oahu.

nice bright colors, the frame should clean up easily with steel wool. cell's not too bad and with the bright background the small water stains aren't obvious.

the top hopper tray and bottom tray were removed for shipping, so they didn't get broken.

only thing missing is the middle face... now who's face should I put there? suggestions? the wife doesn't want hers there...

the showgirls are getting some attention, finally.

started cleaning this one up. lots of rust and corrosion, since hawaii's pretty humid with salty air...

the cell is not too bad, the rust stains mostly come off. there are some water stains, but symmetric enough they don't look too bad.

I am missing one showgirl's face. must have fallen off somewhere in transit. I think that my pug's face would be nice.

unlike any of my previous clean ups, I did take all the nails out this time. since I have the modified nibbler, nail puller, and since these nails were very dark and corroded, it made sense to pull them all. took just under an hour, stopping to clean the cell along the way.

10 minutes of shaking and stirring in vinegar, and they are bright and drying in the oven. next, i will final polish with never dull, so they have a bit of a coating. they will otherwise oxidize in a couple days. (ttc, I would use my miracle cloth, but it's in salinas right now)

next stop is the back, but I think this will come off in one piece.

interesting thing that is different about this machine, is that there seems to be a solenoid that is energized by a switch in the out ball chute. like the levers that we know of on comet II's that push a plastic piece to stop the shooter from feeding, this switches closes a solenoid that moves a lever in the feed mechanism to stop ball flow until you empty the lower tray.

I love how I find new mechanisms on these vintage machines! it's one of the things that keeps me looking for more

tomorrow I will take the machine outside and use the 00 steel wool. I don't like all the steel dust in the house. this should take care of the chrome frame, i think.

the day's work. the machine is almost finished.

I just have to take her outside for chrome refinishing with the messy steel wool, and add one more face

the pins look great polished. I included the "before" picture for comparison. I may have to go back and work on some of the other machines now.

of course, I was short 2 nails by the end, but had them left over from visible pachi, where I didn't use a few of them.

machine was very, very dirty with tar tracks inside. NIT's purple power cut through most of the dirt and tar.

there is an interesting linkage to open the middle tulips when the others are triggered. the center showgirls is fun, too, with two plastic designs that spin one way or the other when the ball falls through. sort of animated that way.

another vintage saved from the dump, and this was is really nice looking, too.
