    Default add bass to pachinko...

I got my Horror Mansion pachinko, and everything is fine, except the sound is really high pitch, too much like just treble and no bass.

Would it be possible to add bass to the pachinko, like maybe a bass booster circuit or treble filter between the pachinko and speaker? the machine is mono. single speaker.

How many speakers does it have? I'm sure you've looked but often there is a separate low frequency speaker towards the bottom of the machine.

We're still waiting to see pics

Horror Mansion is mono, only one speaker in the bottom tray.

It would probably easy to hack with only one speaker. The reference I found on the net are usually for circuit before amplifier, not after.. so I'm not sure if it can be done.

After some search in google, it's appear I cannot use powered speakers because they wait for a line source, not a speaker level sound source. It can damage the equipment

Need to find an other way.

how about swapping in a bigger speaker for the stock one, that has better bass? try one from a car, for example. best to have the same impedance as the stock one.

that's what I will probably try mudfud. I will have to put the speaker on the back of the pachinko, in the cabinet..

I don't have this speaker on hand unfortunately, I will have to buy one just to try it..

how about going to goodwill, or equivalent, and finding some old item with speakers? could use your computer speakers, too, if you just pull the amps off and source the speakers directly.

you have radio shack up there, that's an option, too.

even maybe add the bass speaker to the treble one, don't know if you really need a crossover, or for this maybe put them in parallel?

I think if you keep the impedance at least as high as it was to start you will be fine. I think my speaker in the marilyn machine was 4 ohm. if you added another 4 ohm in series to make 8 ohm, I think that would be safe.

where are you in canada? PM your address and I can figure out the postage, as maybe it wouldn't be that much... maybe one of those small parcel post boxes?

thank you for the offer Mudfud, wait a bit, tomorrrow I'm going to an electronic surplus store.. I may look for a speaker there.

what is impedance, is it the 4 ohms and 8 ohms thing? I thought if it's a 8 ohms, I should use 8 ohms as replacement, not change or increase the value..

I have seen on the web some passive low-pass filter with capacitor and resistor. some other with inductor and resistor or capacitor, don't remember which one.. maybe it could be use on the speaker in front of the pachinko?

If so, I'm not sure of which value I must check for the capacitor and resistor.

yes, impedance is the 4 ohm or 8 ohm thing.

have fun at the electronics surplus. I always come back with all kinds of parts that I think that I might need some day... great fun!

p.s. you probably don't need a crossover for a simple pachinko speaker. I think those are to take the highs/lows and in betweens and send them to only the speaker that makes those sounds... one bigger speaker with some bass should do the trick for you, or find one that has a tweeter in the center of the bass (like a car stereo).

I thought of the low-pass filter just so I could build it inside the pachinko, and not have a bigger speaker hanging on the back of the pachinko. My cabinet is a closed one and not build to allow sound to go out from "inside" the cabinet

Put the bass speaker on the bottom of the cabinet

I'm wondering if there is any bass in the pachinko sound track (i.e. low frequency) to be improved upon.

If it's not there to begin with, I don't think you can add to it???
