The procedure to change the skill level on Spiderman 2 is as follows,
1 Open the door
2 Turn off the machine
3 Insert the reset key and turn it to the right (clockwise)
4 Turn the machine back on
5 The skill button is located on the long board with a plastic cover located under the display inside the door. The button is blue and has a plastic door with a spring loaded hinge.
6 Press the blue button repeatedly while looking at the numeric display on the front of the door until you reach the desired skill level (1-6 with one being the most difficult)
7 Push the spin knob down and the display will go to (0)
8 Return the reset key to off (counterclockwise) and you will hear a click as the coin mechanism engages
Then you are good to go.
