    I found this article from Popular Mechanics in August through a link on Reason Magazine today. I don't see any posts about it, but I could be wrong. Interesting read:

    yup pinball was illigal in alot of states as they classed it as gambling and a game of chance untill a gental man (cant remember his name i should realy ) proved it a game of skill by them taking a pintable to a courtroom and him following consecutive shots time and time again proving it was mainly his skill controling the ball not pure chance

    Was it Roger Sharpe? They mention him in the article in a similar situation.

    roger sharpe played pinball in front of the new york city council and proved to them that pinball was a game of skill.the council saw the light,and made pins legal again.

    I've read that pins from Indiana long ago used to have the free game thing changed to make them legal here..Anything that displayed a number of free games was covered and replaced with a light to say you had a free game..

    "pinball machines that award anything other than an immediate and unrecorded right of replay" Are illegal here..

    That quote is from current IN law..
