Handle/Knob ring damage, how to repair?

unfortunately the chromed plastic of the ring around the knob (part to rotate to shoot the balls) is damaged. It seem to be chewed by probably someone a bit frustrated of not winning hehehe.

I would like to try to restore this ring, it's feel really weird when holding it, because the plastic is damaged.

Do you have any suggestion to repair/modify the plastic, and if I can put chrome paint over it. This part is held by hand, so I don't know if the paint would resist.

Can you take the knob apart and if you don't want to then get a sharp hobby knife and trim it then lightly sand it and get a silver color sharpie and go over the area with it .

replace its the only way that aint gonna polish out and if you cut it out silver marker wont give you that chrome finish and i havent found anything like chrome paint in all the hobbys and painting experiance i have with cars ect

how about epoxy to fill the rough surface, or plumber's putty form, to build it back up. let it dry, shape it and paint it?

More than likely cheap plastic and someone jamming something (coin) behind it to keep it in one position. Look for scratches in the 'ball' too.

i tried it on a perfectly smooth and properly prepped peace of plastic befor i risked it on the item i wanted to paint (expensive large pinball plastic) and im sooo glad i did it was ment ot be chrome and it came out highly metalic silver but not chrome would have wreked the part if i had used it

it did say on the lid on a sticker that lid color did not accuratly represent the color of the pait it depended on the surface to be painted hence i started to get worried and tryed it on somthing else first so glad i did

not a problem mine went back the same i brought one of the small sample cans jus tto check it (pluss im tight fisted thought id get away with a small can)

there's some spray paint called Rust-Oleum which seem nice. of course, it's always give a more silver than chrome look, but actually it's not bad. I really like their hammered style spray paint. look like cracking rust. but I never try them, so I don't know how it's look other than what shown on the can cap.

Sometime I think of painting the pachinko frame to make it more scary, but well, just the idea of doing it is pretty scary too..

I like ttc's idea of using a strip of aluminum tape around it. glue it well at the bottom where it doesn't show. may need to take some adhesive off in one area so that the ring will still ground on contact.

the aluminum tape is a good idea, unfortunately with the warm of the handle, i would be afraid it would peel off or move, putting tape glue everywhere..

Doc, Have you ever tried the Krylon Chrome spray paint? I have a spray can of Krylon chrome, bought for 50 cents at a store closing its doors.. also bought a spray can of silver, and one of gold for same price.. I bought them, no use for them, but thought it could be use somewhere maybe..
