one other option to xeroxing the face is to see if the whole front color layer will come off as one piece. I started to do this on the powerflash, but then realized I could drill straight though it, since I wasn't reusing the wood.

there is a paper layer under the shiny one where it peels easily. might need some clear tape over the front if it starts to tear where the nails stuck it down more in the center.

I really appreciate everyone's support. Thanks,

After all the talk about using a patterned Formica, I've decided instead to combine my love for pachinko with my love for 50s B-movie cheese. The new cell will be the following poster, heat laminated with a heavy acrylic layer.

Now that really might be sacrilege!

I started by doing some work cleaning up an old Japanese Gojira poster, but it was just to hard to keep the thrill of the poster without having too many cell components interfering with key features.

Then I worked on another of my favorites: "Them!" The Japanese poster I found was a real mess and I spent a lot of time in Photoshop cleaning it. Also tried to clean up a mint US version to remove the English and then mimic the Japanese version. Nearly done with that, 50 Foot Woman occurred to me and I liked the results.

Right now at this point and time, you are unofficially "THE MAN!!"...until further notice.

Just , I like that, I like I like, that will be real sweet, old posters just make anything scream 'vintage'. Can't wait to see the end result.

    So, is it convincing?
I had to completely cheat on this one, as I could not find a Japanese version of this particular movie poster. So I took a high res, decent US version, cleaned it up, removed all the English, studied the original taglines and movie trailers, and based the new writing on that. I tried to stay true to the styles I'm seeing on other B-movie posters in Japanese from the times.
Hopefully it reads okay. There's some pretty silly stuff on there, like "United States she-monster."

I think its very convincing - although I am surprised the B-movie posters from Nippon at that time did not feature 50 Foot Writing in japanese text? Were they really so sanguine in their approach?

It looks great to me - and very authentic. Well done.

"Incredible desires for love and vengence!" That line's on my poster too.
It's a shame they never pitted her against Gojira. She'd have B-slapped that lizard boy right down.
