Here's one that I've been wanting for awhile that I finally went ahead and purchased when I had a few $$$ come my way.

Not sure if this is the real name of the machine, as I recollect that I've seen it listed as "Penguin" as well.

Either way - as a modern, I don't mind that it's just lights and digital numbers with no video screen. The play is fun and the music is great.

Hello there Peoples!

I just got my first new Modern about 2-3 weeks ago! I bought a Galaxy Railways machine and its Awesome! Even my daughter who, was whining why did you buy THAT machine, really enjoys! I am glad I a found this place so there are others around me that enjoy the same thing and we can share experiences!

It really beats my first mechanical only one I owned when I was a kid some 30 odd years ago!!! I look foward to getting more... MY secret in my house is the Yamato 2 one I have preordered from somebody who could only get 3!!! I can not wait for Spring now!!! :-)

I think you'll really like the Galaxy Railways machine. I have it and love playing it. I finally got my first fever out of it not long ago and was suitably impressed.

I just got my first fever a few days ago! The music changed to the main anime theme and my daughter really likes that too. I just wish MAETEL and the 999 will show up! Guess I grew up watching too much anime. I really can not wait for that CR2 Yamato, I had to beg the distributer for one. There is a rather large demand for them. I have seen there is a Yamato 3 coming out. My POOR POOR wallet. I still would like one of the Cutie Honey ones but they are kind of tuff to come by from what I can see.

So many I want so few dollars to spend and from what I have seen some people here have some amazing ones! Thanks for the warm welcome. :-)

Yeah its in the Leiji Matsumoto world so the Galaxy Railways HAD to be my first! Since I could not procure the Cr Yamato 2 yet. That one is coming and I am on the hunt for CR 3 as soon as I can get my hands on one, talk about an obsession. I have been on the Dark Side for years between Anime and Audio and now Modern Pachinko you guys are right there is no hope for me now...

None, cosmetically or functionally, that I can determine. What makes you sure it was the first one?

I've done some research for you on the name:

打て means 'play (the mah-jong)' or 'Put (the mah-jong piece on the table)'.
雀士 means a mah-jong lover or a mah-jong professional.
東場 means literally 'a round of east'. According to wikipedia, people play mah-jong from 4 to 16 rounds in one game. The first 4 rounds is called 'Ton-ba'. Normally japanse play mah-jong only 4 rounds at one time. So, I suppose this game is for Ton-ba (a 4-round game).

So literally, you could name this machine Play, Mah-jong Master, Play! if you wanted to in English. It has the right feeling I think.

Although I'm BRAND new to this addiction, I'm pretty sure that's not a Penguin. The one I just picked up is the Penguin. It has the same case, but the art on mine is definitely a picture of a penguin, which I do not see on yours.

If you can figure out what the red and blue buttons on the front tray do, I'd be glad to know. Also, since yours has the same case, I'm wondering if yours and mine dont "reset" the same way. I have no idea how to reset mine, so if you figure that out, I'd love to know!

EDIT: After some experimental tinkering, I finally identified the RESET harness plug and the EMPTY MACHINE harness plug. The payout switch (A little plastic hook) was down instead of up, preventing payouts.

So now its all fixed and running great! Although I still thinks its gonna be about impossible to ever "win" I just dont see how a ball is going to fall in the necessary 4th spot of any given payout row...

Time will tell I suppose...

Anyone else with info on this machine that would like to hit me up is encouraged to do so. maybe between the two of us we can create user guide thread or something?!
