    Default Just picked up today

Just picked up 3 Pachinko Machines today 1 Sanyo, 1 Daiwa and 1 Nishijin-C. They need a lot of work and I can't wait to start on them, but they go to the end of the line of other machines. I should be ready by spring to start work on them.

That marbled aqua-colored plastic on the Daiwa is tasty!

I just got my very first Pachinko machine it is a Daiwa got it for $50. I am not sure where to start. I cleaned the spider webs & dirt out of it . & now to shine the rusty balls, any one want to share ideas of where to start? or what to look for?

I haven't started my Daiwa yet but when I do a restore I start with cleaning the playing field, then polishing brass nails, win pockets and tuilps. Then I move to front ball tray and lower front ball tray, polish all chrome. When the front is done, I start on the back working from top down. Vintage Pachinko has some good restoration DVDs if you have never done it before.

But you can get a lot of help here.

Just curious, is it better to just buy new balls or can the old rusty ones be cleaned up?

I'd say go new. They could be cleaned up by running them through a rock tumbler but if you don't have one then it would be cheaper to buy new. Check out ebay for some good deals.

For me.. I toss all the rusted balls and only purchase "new" ones.

Where to start... my opinion... is with the the back of the machine. On my first machine... in which I knew nothing... I would take off one piece... clean it.. clean what was under it... and then put it back on. I took a lot of photos too! Of course you can do a quick all over cleaning to get the deep dust, bugs, hair, spider webs, etc. off of it.

The above method also allowed me to drop a ball into one of the pockets and watch the mechanics do it's thing. By doing this.. I learned how it worked together, what depended on what and how one particular lever or bracket affected the outcome.

Once I get the back done.. then I do the front shooter door area in the same process. Then I clean the cell... then I do the pins...

Once I get everything working and all looking good... I tackle the electrical... which on these machines is probably the most simple.

Ok.. there ya go... maybe this should have been a seperate thread?

    WELCOME!!!

If you don't want or need to take it apart don't worry about it, but if you do decide you want to just take your time, take LOTS of pics so you know where everything goes when you need to put it back together and know if you get stuck at any point there are plenty of people here that can help you get it back together!!

Also you may want to check out Mudfud's great post here for some of the best vintage threads on PT!!

    Let's not forget this thread:
