    Question Distrubuted Power Supply

Friends, I have 10 modern Pachinko machines wall mounted in my game room. Each has an individual power supply/transformer mounted in its case. All are powered by extension cords run back to a high quality surge suppresor.
    Why?
It seems like I might be better off with a single, heavy duty transformer and run a 24-V "daisy chain" to all my machines.
How do they power machines in the parlors?
What could be the downside to doing this?
What size power supply/transformer would I need?
    What size wire?
    Suggestions?
    Thanks

They have large transformers that can power several machines. 1KVA (41.6 amps at 24VAC) can run about 6 games. I've seen them in 300, 500, 1,000 and 1,500VA sizes. Very heavy. You'll be hard pressed to find them here for sale ( ).

This one has 4 plugs, but also screw connectors so it can be hard wired to sockets or to power battle counters/external lights

I bought a lighting transformer off ebay that was rated at 600W, so maybe 5 machines. i just paralleled the 2 moderns that I have in that corner across it.

that's quite the transformer, compirate, ... you have all the cool toys!

Does anyone know the actual current draw of a pachinko machine at 120V ?
    How about at 24V?

If you look at the back of any pachinko machine the power draw at full bonus (all the bells and whistles going off) will be listed in terms of VA.

and volts times amps, or VA, is approx watts.

so my 600 watt transformer could take 600/24 = 24 amps or about 5-6 machines, since each modern machine draws about 5 amps.
