I pulled the name from vintage pachinko.

I'll try to get a photo posted tonight.

    hey rusty,

your A looks a little different in the jackpot seesaw area than mine. maybe yours is newer?

the movie is my second nishijin A with the "bionic" arm, showing the mechanism in action.

    Hey Dr Mud!

Your post is exactly what I was looking for! Now to 're-install' my lever properly and I should be good to go! The lever in question appears to block the jackpot rocker when the lower tray is empty.

    Updates soon!

Ok, with the excellent help of the members here, I've managed to get the machine restored to working order. I haven't done much cleaning on the front except to remove the dirt and dust that would end up inside during testing. So, until I get the cleaning done and take new photos... here's some info on game play. I've included the original photo of the play cell for reference.

Ok. Play is pretty straight forward with balls in the two lower basic pockets simply paying a jack pot and the two on the outer side paying a single jackpot and then leaving the 'wings' open for another easy win.

A ball into the very top pocket will pay a jackpot and open only that pocket for another win. A ball into the pocket below the center piece will open that pocket and a subsequent ball well fall through into the lower pocket and open it. All done, three wins here.

The center pocket is where it get's fun. This pocket will open EVERY pocket on the play field. However, there is a small catch. With both lower center pockets open and a ball falls into the upper pocket, the lower center pocket will close. So, to maximize the wins, you need to get a ball into the lower center pocket before you get one in the pocket above it.

As I've mentioned before, losing balls are recycled into the lower jackpot payout tray, jackpot balls end up in the upper player tray and the 'win ball' will fall into the lower tray. The jackpot and win ball ring different bells. These processes appear to be typical for A model machines and really extend the play time between refills.

Now to complete the electrical and clean her good! However, it's gonna have to wait until after this weekend as we head to the beach for New Years.

    Happy New Years!

Hey, if anyone has this same machine and has been able to 'date it' I'd love to know what age your is so I can estimate the age of mine!
