That looks to me like an early Allwin machine that has had a few too many coats of varnish added and possibly had the cell repainted or colored.

Perhaps our members across the pond can verify that it's an Allwin.

Yes that looks like an early Allwins to me.
Try this web site for a bit of info
The BRYANS Penny Arcade - bryans.org.uk
You can still buy parts for Allwins machines in the U.K. I will see if i can find where
The very early machines were very plain, Didn't start all the bright flashes
    until 1950's.

I was just looking at that one on eBay earlier this morning as it came up on my usual Pachinko searches

Certainly looks old and interesting, but I too am inclined to believe it's been repainted heavily on the red part

Would make a nice restoration project

I would have to agree with Hanabi. I enlarged the photo of the play filed and enhanced it with Photoshop. It really looks like the play field was painted and whoever did it did not remove any of the parts first.

You can see all along the ball track where the paint stops short of the metal, as well as around the edges of the center win pockets and the ornaments in the three corners. It is most noticable at the center on the right side where the ball track touches the edge. The painter couldn't get into the tight spots above or below where the track touches, so the paint coverage is particularly sloppy in those areas.

It's too bad that this Allwin was ruined in this way. It looks to be one of the older, more hard to find machines that could be worth quite a bit if it were in original condition.

I might be interested in restoring it. the seller has no idea if it works, and used it as an "art piece" :duh:

if I can get pix of the inside, I will consider bidding. will let you guys know.

are there lights on this? I didn't think there were.

p.s. I'm bidding on this one, even though the seller can't open it to confirm there's anything in there. keeping my fingers crossed that maybe it's a functioning allwin.

There are no lights inside one that old. I hope you get it and it has everything it needs to be functional.

Sorry, there was a lost post in this Thread (regarding bulbs) which has now found a thread of it's own,

So it's back to the scheduled topic of the antique gambling machine

We just got this Allwin...we have some cleaning up for the poor paint job that was done. We have been researching this and have been unable to find one that is like it, we believe that it is a BMCo version. Once we get it, we will let you know if it works, or if the machine is empty inside. We have our fingers crossed.

hey shaybay, glad to hear you got it. I bid but you wanted it more

I did a bit of searching and found this picture online from a completed antique auction. it went for around $450 and looks to be the same one.

The machine looks similar. Our machine is a prototype of the 5 wins from BM Co before they mass produced them. We will definitely keep everyone updated.

We just got the machine today! It was not painted-thank god! There is corrosion since the metal is copper, easy to clean. The back is red plastic. And get this-it works! There are some missing nails that will help when we get it back in perfect working condition as well as picking up a new lock for it since it is only being held closed with a nail through the top. Going to clean this up and it will be so nice on the wall that's for sure. I can't believe that it works, I was really worried about it.

PS We bought a Michael Jackson pachinko just the other day, can't wait to see that when it comes home!

Is this better?? LOL Sorry to cause you problems, my step father suffers from seizures too, but from flashing lights...I dont know if certain colors do it to him though. I know that Tim wants to look them over, we of course want to keep one for ourselves. He has work to do on them, we just dont know how much and it looked like some of the machines were in better shape than the others. I know that he is going to auction some locally, but I will let him know that we have some buyers on PT!
