Default Adjusting spring sound Vintage Pachinko

I am doing a restoration on this machine and I want to get as close as I can the the sound of play. I've already installed the double glass, the inner glass is real glass and the outer is plexiglass. I'm not sure if I'm forgetting anything else. But I know that newspaper was put into the ball launch spring. What I need to know is how much was used and whether or not it was folded or rolled?

But how much paper, stuff the spring full so nothing else will fit or leave a little gap on each end?

What is the purpose of the newspaper? I've never seen that in a machine before.

Spring dampening, I suppose. Could be a 'lucky' piece of paper, something important to the person who made it?

My machines had the paper rolled about the size of a cigarette, maybe 50% density or less, not compact (50% of the space was filled in a diameter about that size give or take), 2 or three pieces, about the same length, maybe a little longer than a cigarette total for the 2 or 3 pieces. And it was newspaper.

I always wondered about that stuffed spring roll, too. figure you wouldn't hear any difference in the parlors, but maybe the springs lasted longer? maybe it slowed people down?

maybe there are coded messages inside the springs... I had a patient who said something was in her ear and I found a piece of paper with writing on it... (and I thought she was just crazy)...
