MuMu World DX will not reset

I plugged in my MuMu World DX today for the first time in about 6-8 months.
I turned the reset key & switched on the machine to set the skill level.
Upon doing so I received the "E8" msg.
I switched the machine off & the reset key back to the off position & turned the machine back on, only to receive the same error code.
After a shut down & turning the reset key back to the on position, I powered back up to the normal reset mode.

I proceeded to set the skill level at 4, hold down the reel lever then switch the reset key back to off.
The machine would not come out of reset mode.
After another reboot, the screen & audio worked but "4" still showed in both the level windows (inside/out).
I put a coin in & it dropped straight through to the payout tray.
I've repeated this at least a dozen times with the same results.
It seems as if the reset key doesn't make a connection when turned back to the off position.

If anyone has previously covered this, please link me & forgive...
I am behind trying to set up my pachis for a Christmas eve Casino Night & am short on time.

Hey TT,

Mine will do the same thing after a long break, but after a reset I'm good to go. Perhaps if you remove the reset key and add a switch you will be good?

Yes, i agree MM. Tim I think you answered your own question. Swap out the key switch or change it to a toggle and go from there.

Also check the hopper. Stealths web site lists E8 as a hopper disconnect error.

Also, most things Sankyo makes are finicky if they're cold/haven't been on in a while. Might leave it plugged in for a bit to 'warm up'.

I tried again after MuMu had some time to "heat up" & I had some time to "cool down"
... & after two resets, it worked!
I took the power supply out & opened it up to see if anything was fried or loose, but all looked well.

I left her plugged in, now hopefully it will function properly come time for tonight's Christmas Eve party.

Is there not a black button on the power supply that you push for reset?

Thid problem makes me wonder if it has a internal battery back up somewhere. Any of my machines after a long period of inactivity, they all default to a "standard" setting. With these newer LCD games, makes me think something needed to recharge first. Love the newer videos on YouTube Tim.

they have a capacitor to store energy for a short time, some hold up longer than others

Try this. It worked for me once.
Do a reset by turning off the power then when you insert the reset key and turn it, LEAVE IT turned for a minute! or more if necessary. That might do it. It did for me once!
