    Default Special Premiums

These are some of the items you receive for your exchanged balls/tokens and take around the corner to the other 'exchange' place for cash. They're lighter flints.

There's something gloriously weird and attractive about winning such crap, and being able to then take it around the corner and exchange it for cold, hard Yen.

In a way, the crapier the exchnage pieces (premiums), the better - I wouldn't want to win anything I wanted to keep, instead of exchanging!!

Compirate - how about posting some photos of your collection of premiums? They vary widely - would be interesting to see what people might have collected...

I don't even know how long ago I got these, but the seller had about 1000 of each denomination, I could only afford 100 of each.

Took one apart to see what they were really like:

Size in relation to a penny:

From what I've gathered, they can't just give you something worthless to take to be exchanged, so these could be gold (the smallest one) or gold plated. What do you coin people think? I know they aren't coins

they must be base metal and gold plated.

if they ring when you drop one its probably gold plated silver

Here's someone's page of his collection of premiums:

Keihin - keihin! That's the word I was searching for and had forgotten.

I'd never heard them called 'premiums' before, but that makes sense.

I'd never hung on to them long enough to inspect them closely...

The owner of the pawn shop I worked at bought 500 OZ of "silver" from a dealer in china on ebay. He was boasting at how he got it for about 1/3 spot even with the shipping. after displaying the bars and bragging about it for a month he dropped one and it dented. Turns out they were silver plated lead bars that he paid good money for.

Cheap jerk, serves him right. He never even tested them, I took the dented one and dripped some nitric acid on it to check it and it burned the plating right off
