Well their are a few arepachis that look as good as yours on the arepachi site. When You have time could you post a nice full frontal view of your machine on the site.

Ok guys ! first I just reread a post from Sid about the Rules - So Please forget I ever put a price for sale on my machine on this area of the site - that was not right to do. Anyway I be thinking what would I do with the $28,450 anyway, buy another car? maybe store up on gas? Pay my New york property taxes for 1.5 yrs>! I don't think so~! I think I'll keep my arepachi but for lets say $2,450,000 I will sell it, then when I expire my kids with have some cash left over even though I will be drawing off it because interest rates are at zero. Atleast they will not have to or want to sell it. Lesson Learned is: You + your Arepachi = Priceless!
It was nice to find this place of fellow arepachi lovers - never knew it existed!

Hmmm This is one of the most interesting threads that I have ever seen on Pachitalk!

Someone is explaining the value of a Pachinko/Arepachi machine and the reason for its Value to the most Knowledgeable and serious Pachinko/ArePachi collectors on the Planet.

The type of collectors that would pay top dollar for a truly rare and significant machine.

They all Agree and tell this seller that he will not get what he is asking, for his perceived value and that the Price that he could get for it will not be a Hundredth of the asking price. Yet he persists in trying to convince them that he will succeed.

Listen brother David I really hope you do. I hope you can find someone who will buy it from you for that price and If you do I will be genuinely Happy for you and say way to go!

But realistically No one in America aside of the Members here really know what Pachinko is much less Arepachi as it is If Im not mistaken Im the one who introduced most of the members here to Arapachi machines. Americans dont care about Pachinko and most actually hate them. The people who collect fine rare objects who would have the kind of bankroll required to purchase the machine for the price asked would also have the wherewithal to research the object for its history and value. Where would they go for such info? More likely then not they would have their secretaries or assistants or buyers or contacts from Sothebys or Christy's research it from The Asia Society or Google, which would lead them to Pachitalk.

Which would lead them to the History of the machines and the Experts Appraisal of around $300

I have the same Model Arepachi as yours and I am probably the biggest collector of the machines.

I also live in NY and I will offer you $300 for it Hey its better then sitting on it getting nothing!

Trust me I know where your coming from and why you feel it has such Value to you but
unfortunately thats where that value ends.

Hey who knows you might find Some Deep pocketed Arab who cares not the Price of anything that must, One first see the object then Second be interested in the object then three be willing to actually bid or buy it from EBAY? CRAIGSLIST?

I think you might have a better chance at the Lottery but then again from your point of view anything is possible and yes it is.

Most High Roller collectors buy from Auction Houses not Ebay or Craigslist

If you want to realistically try to get what you are asking, take it to either Sothebys or Christy and have them Auction it for you at a commission of course. Thats where the money is if you find an interested enough buyer.

Im just offering suggestions and am not condemning you for your vision

Im just offing you $300 and best wishes.

Yet he still defends his stand for whatever reason and holds his ground. Stubborn? Unreasonable? Or just steadfast and sure of his Beliefs ( Which can be admirable in the face of opposition)

    Nice Arepachi David.

I think the market here will not support your asking price.

Maybe you should try YJA (Yahoo Japan)

Vintage machines in Japan are getting top dollar, much more than the states.

I doubt you'll get 28k, but who knows

Very well put Eddie-I mentioned those same points to him in an email.
So David, bring that price down to a reasonable level and you might be surprised what someone here is willing to pay for it. You'll make some money, make a member here very happy, and know you will be giving it a good home. Good luck.

Obviously, this machine has great value to DavidC. I think he should keep it and prize it as the treasure it is to him... and come and hang out here at PachiTalk with fellow Pachi enthusiasts. Anyone that places a value that high on one of these machines must love them.

I am sure he would be welcome, as there is no harm in having differing opinions among the membership. It is indeed a nice machine.

Well, if money were no object (and I had plenty of it), I would buy it in a heart beat.

But if I had that much money, I would just pay to have one made and say it was vintage to make everyone jealous.

Well this is not coin operated but it is an old pinball. It is not mint but neither is yours. We should be able to make a trade. How much extra will you give me for mine?

If it would help I would pay the shipping.

    Smartest thing you've written yet.

You're bet on the market, which revolves around the premise that some dummy with more money than sense thinks your machine would be worth that price, is a 100000/1 shot IMO. If it comes in, you really will have won the lottery - and for that we all say, good luck sir.

Good playing of the machine for many more years to come at home however - now that makes sense!
There is always another machine around the corner...

Now you are in one of my other areas of knowledge. Vettes.

Less than $20k for a C5 Vette right now - probably less in 2040 (they are a dime a dozen). They make too many these days for them to appreciate over time, even with very low miles on the OD. They are meant to be driven, not sit in a garage. My 2007 C6 Z06 is a model in which they make the least amount of each year (around 6,300) and it has depreciated like mad over 3 years. But I enjoy driving it all the time. It's a car, not a statue. Drive that thing!

Keeping things around for a long time does not necessarily make them valuable, just old...
