    Default Hopper Gone Bad?

My Speed Racer has developed a flaw with its token hopper. The tokens jam after only one or two have dispensed. The jam is to the point of having to disassemble the hopper and throw away the tokens involved as it totally mauls them. I cannot figure out what is going on. I have tried rebuilding it several times, and while manually cranking it I cannot see how the tokens jam.
Any ideas how I can fix this or where I can purchase a new hopper? I miss my Speed...

Tried different tokens, I mainly use the same gold tokens but tried the 25 or so silver cherry mmixed with old parlour tokens as well. Same result. Spinning by hand they line up and pop out correctly. When in the machine they start jamming, and actually push between the top plate above the coin eject mechanism which bends and scratches them. I will try to get some pics of this, its hard to describe, but the coins actually jam between 2 metal plates that arent meant ot be seperated. I cant find anything bent or broken after taking the hopper apart. I am wondering if its something with the motor? It sounds a little jerky when it starts. A few tokens will randomly spit out then it starts grinding and then stops, I then have to take the hopper back apart and throw away another token.

motor would not cause a jam. It sounds like a part is missing or broken and tokens are going were the shouldn't. pick up a cheapie Aristocrat like baseball boy or something and use it for parts.

Still no luck with this. Taken it apart a few more times and cant seem to find anything wrong. No loose mystery pieces anywhere, nothing looks broken or bent. Havent been able to find another hopper either, so I guess Speed goes to the shed out back for a proper burial.

Perhaps some pictures of the hopper apart? We can look at the hoppers we have and see if we can see anything broken/missing. A picture of it jammed and what it looks like apart jammed might help

Pic 4 & 5 shows the coin jam. this one didnt go as far, the last one I had to take the plate off that it wedged under
Pic 6 is the mechanism the coins shoot through when it works right. The "pin" looks bent, but the plate that its on looks like its supposed to be a slight angle.

How big of a slot is on the door where the tokens eject out of the hopper into? The Shake II I just got has a small slit and the door was out of alignment which caused the tokens to jam up against the plastic on the door.

Have you tried keeping 50 credits in the machine at all times, play the machine with the door open and watch the hopper to see whats it's doing when it pays put to the lower tray?

I can disassemble again further this weekend if more pics would help. I had taken it completely apart once and should have taken pics then.

I tried Gaku, since he's local, but he had no spare parts. Not much on ebay and what is seems to be way overpriced. Guess the affordable pachi tsunami really is over.

Thanks NIT, I have actually tried the above. It does have the smaller slit opening, but it happens with the door open too. They never make it out of the hopper, once the coin jams it just backs up and stops the whole thing. The thing is I cant see whats happening under the plastic top, and I cant get it to work without the plastic top. catch-22.

Your missing a part, there is a little bearing that goes on that pin. It's like the one in picture 5.

Sorry for the cell phone pic, bearing looks to be the same size as the other one present. If it's been working up to now, start looking for that bearing

Other than finding your original, getting a replacement part/hopper, you might be able to build up the pin to the same diameter as the bearing. Not sure how long that would last though.

If I'm not mistaken that bearing spins. I looked at one of my hoppers and it spins.

    That's why it's a bearing, not a post

Check with John at Stealth, but be patient, eventually you'll get an answer.

Still looking for a hopper. John at stealth never replied to my emails. Anyone know of any other vendors out there that may have parts?
The hopper is definately shot at this point. I found part of the little post stuck to a speaker magnet (thanks for the tip luckydog). but it was too far gone. all my attempts at fixing the problem at this point have just ensured I now need a whole new hopper.

Don't give up yet on the hopper replacement. I have been keeping my eyes and ears open for a few parts for myself. I haven't found much because it seems like everything is drying up with old used machines. There was a time I could buy machines cheaper than the shipping charges but not any more. I found an old Monte Carlo machine that was just a really bad mod in the belly glass etc. The main frame is an Aristocrat and is the type that has 5 reels like Baseball machines. I'm going to check it out this weekend and see if the hopper works on it. I own a Speedracer that I can test it on. Keep your fingers crossed on this one. Shipping may be as much as the hopper? We'll see.
