Here's a thought....set that sucker at payout level 1 like the casinos...keep plugging it full of quarters, and if it even TRIES to go into a bonus round....do a reset. Sounds like declawing a cat, I know....cruel not to let a pachislo show all its lights, and play that funky music (white boy......) but then you don't NEED a full hopper for payout, and it can be quarter machine ONLY (which explains to friends and family why you have it sitting in your master bathroom..... *COUGH*). Hence, no need to start with 3-400 quarters, and even if they get used for car washes, laundry, throwing at local kids, etc....it wouldn't matter so much....hypothetically speaking, of course.

Hypothetically, if someone were looking to add something like a validator, it seems to me I saw one online for about $75 at this site http://slotvegas.com/Parts/parts145billhead.html
or maybe it was here? http://slotvegas.com/Parts/partsDoorBezels.html
could even have been here http://slotvegas.com/Parts/
Now, I don't want to give the wrong idea, this is simply for researchin' type purposes to show how much money some people will add to their slots, to uber customize them......I'd personally rather leave them looking like they did when they came in the door, plus a volume control....but that's just me.

I understand why some of you disagree with converting machines to take money, but my thoughts on this are:

    1. These are gambling devices.....that is what they were made for right?

    2. Maybe I just happen to live in one of the "lucky" states, but Texas allows any machine to be bought and sold. I can drive 10 mins down the road and get a real Vegas slot if I wanted.

My machine takes quarters and tokens. I currently only have quarters in it. Friends and family love it. And seeing as how it is legal, I have no worries about a knock on the door anytime soon.

I started with $20 in quarters and now have a little over $200 in my hopper. Its a great way to save a few bucks. And with the addition of a bill validator I could save even more.

DaStooge, you make some good points and there is something about playing with "real" money. But, I'd have to tie up so many dollars in quarters to make them playable, that I'd not be able to buy more machines! I have over 10000 tokens either in or next to my machines. To replace all that with quarters would be expensive.

Hypothetically, if you wanted to use it as a gambling devise, just sell the tokens to your friends. 1 token equals 1 quarter. Or for your cheap friends: 1 token equals 1 nickel. and for your really, really cheap friends. 1 token equals 1 penny...No real need for a money changer. Just a simple solution without getting any more equipment?

Utopia1dc, hypothetically, that's what I'd do if I were in such a hypothetical type situation.

I don't disagree, I have four 25 years plus one arm bandits that take 25ΒΆ pieces.

It should be that anyone could do to their machine any conversion, but with the laws that are there in most states. It is in the long run (in the tight bottomed states) giving them more reason to outlaw them, is all.

 and I would be so sad, I would pee my pants

    1. These are gambling devices.....that is what they were made for right?
Technically, I believe they are considered to be games of skill rather than games of chance (in Japan) and they are not used for gambling for money (technically) they are only used for winning prizes, although I understand there are shops near the parlors that will buy back the prizes for money (at a discount of course) and re-sell them to the pachislo parlors. So the no gambling thing is just a formality more than anything, I guess.

Everyone, please correct me if I am wrong! Thanks! ~spooner

Damn! Another slap down! I try and try to help the community and all I do is get it wrong

Slotter, please enlighten me as to how I am wrong so, I do not make such an egregious error in the future.

    Thanks. ~spooner

Damn Slotter! You have been giving me a lot of grief lately ... what's up with that?

I rely on you for your input but you seem to have it in for me

Did I outbid you on a slot on eBay or something?

    Let's bury the hatchet ... okay? ~spooner
