Default Help needed with first Pachinko

Took a risk with first machine I was told I needed a downstep that I cold get for £25 from Ebay. I thought this would be a 240v to 100v which seemed no problem.
Having picked up the machine I have found that there is an earth together with a twin cable and connector marked 24v A/c.
Im a bit stuck now and i would be grateful for any information re wattage and current. Can the stepdown be easily obtained or alternativly who could do the work for me.
It was a bit of a step into the dark and my Pachinco adventure could be short lived.
I would be grateful for assistance.

    Welcome!
You will be glad you took the risk.
To answer your question we need to know the type of machine you have... VINTAGE, with a lever you flick with your finger to shoot a ball, or a modern with a shooter knob.

Are you sure that you have a pachinko (uses balls) and not a pachislo (uses tokens)?
Name your machine and help will follow

you need a transformer that will step it down to 24V and you can ignore the ground wire as it will work fine with it not hooked up.

Thank for the response.I have only seen a single 240v to 24v stepdown transformer.
When I was looking at the 240v to 100v these were available in 100w 200w 500w and 1000w I didnt know what I would need for the 24v type.

a transformer that puts out 24 VAC, 4 amps should be fine.

perhaps one of the members in europe can point you to a place to get one?

I'm lucky, I've never had to purchase a transformer

But i was trying to locate a useful thread, as I'm sure we have had a few discussions about transformers for the UK over the last few years

I found one of Doc's old threads,

    Transformers

Not sure if that link is still useful, or you could wait for the good doc, DrCrippen324 to see this thread and offer his advice,

Thanks for all the help.As it happens it was Airtech that have all the 100v stepdowns. Hidden in their catalogue was the 240 to 24 transformer When i was a little more informed i was going to contact them.
With my machine came 1572 balls and i can be that precise because i weighed them out earlier. Is that a satisfactory machine /ball ratio?
    Meant Airlink.

    1572 should be plenty.

pachinko balls are very scarce in the UK, so you got a good deal with that many balls included

House current in the U.K. is 240 v and the postage to send a transformer to the U.K. would be more than the cost of a new transformer.

Many thanks to Derek(1960) who found me a 4a transformer at RS Components Cost £32 and produced a variety of voltages- the outer terminals gave the required 24v.
A few problems connecting up but when I got it going it was very impressive and there dosnt seem to be anything wrong with it.
I have measured up for a cabinet with doors on the back.
Is is possible to modify the dead ball flow by tube so that they are fed to the front of the machine?
I am thinking of fitting a clear vertical tube to the payout resevoir so I can see if it needs topping up.
    Any thoughts.

I have completed my cabinet having taken my measurements to me local b&q it was just a case of fitting it together.
I left two holes at the top , one that I can stick a funnel or cut down plastic bottle to fill the payout and a pencil size hole which will allow something to sit on the balls and indicate when a top up is needed.

I have drilled a 3cm hole in the base to feed the lost balls out of the side of the cabinet to recirculate.
I am going to fashion a chute from a couple of beer cans-it just seems the right thing to do.I have some photos.

    My first project is complete-perhaps.
I went for a beer can chute which fed ball out through a bottle neck and into a large plastic container with a hole cut in in. If it quiet I can tip the balls into the feed or the payout-I am making use of all 1500 balls now.
When I made the cabinet I cut a 4cm hole above the payout hopper.I have made a plastic tube I made it so that it sat 2cm above the hopper floor and cut the top flush with the top of the cabinet, then cut a hole in a plas
tic bowl the same as the tube and glued the bowl on the tube/cabinet.
As it pays out you can see the level of balls drop and top up as required. It means I can weather any payout sequences without a break in play.
