Default Popper King - missing parts (pics)

(linked pictures also attached to thread)

24 hours ago, I wouldn't know a Pachislo from a standard one-armed-bandit, but fate has placed one into my lap that is in need of a few parts.

From what I can tell, based on a few web searches, I'm needing the following parts:

    Token mechanism,
    Power supply,
    & a "Hopper?"

The three 'stop' buttons on the front are also missing, so I'll need either three buttons, or some board assembly that houses three buttons?

I haven't been able to find a dedicated manual online for this machine, but the tags (and copyright) tell me that it's an IGT "Type-A" model, and that it was made in '98.

Ideas? Pointers? Places to go for parts?

    Thanks in advance!!

Hope you didn't pay a lot, parts are hard to come by. Stealth Home Amusements is a potential source, but not sure about something this old.

Sorry for the horrendous photos (of the cabinet), I've misplaced my most recent digital camera, and the second-in-line didn't have a charge. The crappy cell phone was left to capture those images (with the aid of a flashlight...)

I didn't pay much ($20) for it, knowing it would need parts. Hell, I didn't even open it up until I got it home. I could tell at that point that the entire power supply was missing, as well as whatever device holds the coins, etc. I hope that this project isn't too demanding - there's so many others on hold right now (including 4 pachinko and 6 arcade machines.)

*To the nosy fella that went snooping (and I won't mention names, despite the fact that only one person has replied thus far)... In one of those pictures, if you stare very carefully, you can see the large gash on her neck...

Rip all the guts out of it, put a 15" lcd screen in and turn it into a mini mame cabinet!

Snooping? If the door ain't locked, your allowed to come in It's what you do when you get there that matters.

Throwing an index.html file in each folder will stop snooping

Blasphemy! You might as well be describing the delicacy of Thanksgiving turkey to a vegetarian when you mention MAME to an arcade game collector!

Well, I'm not that hardcore yet, and I can see the logistic applications of preserving the source code for many games that might very well fall into oblivion, but I haven't made a MAME machine yet. If I ever do, I know it'll house itself in something a bit more accommodating than a Pachislo machine with a 15" screen...

Thanks for the html advice... but now, I feel like I've robbed those whom will read this thread later of their fill of bloodied cleavage. To those unfortunate folks, I will attach a picture of Tina... But, let's not let this take away from the focus of the thread itself...

A true collector embraces all aspects of the hobby! If your not going to play a certain game because you can't own the actual machine, your missing out. I'm sure the experience is better to some, but like you say, some games will never be found, I figure the fun is as much the play as having the machine.

On the pachislo, just put pachislo/pachinko/mahjong games in it as mame

Oh, and tell her she's Zombie-rific!

Sure beats swapping JAMMA boards in the middle of a party, that's for sure...

I keep staring at that picture, and for the life of me, I can't tell why you think she's a zombie...

I'm looking at this joystick - and at first, I thought it was missing a cherry switch, but upon closer inspection, it appears to be an LED light, and IR receiver, which is interrupted by the action of the joystick end blocking one's view of the other...

Does this switch really need to be that sophisticated?

If I ever do another arcade restoration that calls for leaf switches, I might look into these... No 'clickety-clickety-clank' when playing...

Contact METZ here or at the other site. He has parts for that machine, I gave him several IGT's when I cleaned out my garage.

Shoot him a message. I know he does check, but he's online right now at the "other" site.

    Hey gang,

Just came from a Thanksgiving dinner with some friends and the hosted said, I have this old slot machine can you look at it? Well.. turns out, it's a Popper King and in pretty good shape... cept it ain't got no key or rather either key!

I'll take photos tomorrow... Lomotil, if you tell me what you need photos of, I'll try to get those specific ones.

So.. the million dollar question... where can I get keys for this thing? Also, would the keys that Lomotil have be the same as mine? if so... maybe I could bribe him with Raman to make some dups and send them to Texas???

One more question, I appreciate the link above for directions about how to play this game.. but.. a bit difficult for a Newbie to understand. Can someone give us better directions on how to hit the 'big games'?

    Thanks!

Thanks and more posted tomorrow or Friday.

check this machine up to experience and let it go from what i can see in the photos there really isn't a machine everything's gone would cost more than its worth to resurect this one . Time to pull the plug ...check out Craigs list in your area for a cheap working machine im sure there's a bunch available .

Yes I agree on chalking up the machine unless you are absolutely attached to it. I have bought two perfect machines with over three thousand tokens for fifty dollars a piece on Craigs list. Their are deals out their you just have to look and try and find something close to you so you can pick it up. Shipping will cost you more than the machine.

Ok, I worked on this machine and found I had another 'key switch' that would work so I replaced the reset key switch and now it works great. I'm going to start another thread about Popper King so we can discuss the play details. I've tried once to make sense of the Japanese link and didn't have much luck. I'll try again and update the new thread once I get this bad boy figured out.

I still need the front door key if you decide not to use it!

Is the switch a single pole key switch?

Yes. These are easily identifiable once you get them out of the power supply as there are only two wires connected.
