    Default Sankyo Modern Vintage Questions.

My latest child is a Sankyo... I'll call it a modern vintage because it has some additional electronics that i have to identify.

The cell is in spectacular condition, and everything except the wiring seems to be intact. Someone has made quite a few un-authorized mods to the wiring. Common mistakes. Like running 24vac to the bulbs and such.

At first glance, the circuit board seems to be ok. Looks like part of the machine runs of 24vac, while the rest of the machine runs off DC.
The power circuit is a little more involved than the simple 4 diodes like on the PF. It may be that this board puts out three voltages from a 24vac input. 24VAC, 24VDC and maybe 10VAC for the lights?

I'm looking for a good 24V/10V transformer. Gotta hunt the pachitalk archives. I know there is a thread about where to find them.

The jackpot appears to be motorized, but I'm not sure of this. If anyone has experience with a machine like this, PLEASE let me know.
I may have to do a full breakdown just to trace the electronics.

I am happy with the price I paid. I got two for $25, and I threw in $10 for delivering them. Not bad. $ 17.50 each. I can live with that.

    Here are some pics.

    Thanks Mopar!

I just got back from radio shack with my transformer. 25.2V CT 2.0A Heavy-Duty Chassis-Mount Transformer with Lead - RadioShack.com

25.2 Volt AC, 2-AMP Power transformer.
The secondary side of the transformer has 3 wires (YEL YEL BLK).
    Yel + Yel = 24 VAC, Yel + Blk = 12VAC.

I was thinking that this would be a great supply for a powerflash, but when I looked at the specs, its maximum load is 760mA. I believe the solenoids on the PF pull 1 amp.
Maybe i am wrong, but I would assume that the output would be 2 amps. Go figure.

The centerpiece spins at all times. When you get a ball into one of the 3 notches, it will drop into one of three holes in the jackpot. Due to the different shapes of the notches, the ball may travel past one pocket into another. Interesting. Cant wait to put it all together and play this baby.

    More pics later.

ill be the first to admit im not sparky.. but it works great for me.. and the spliter is a great bonus..

looking at the pic i was wondering if that center spins... great find... i really like the vintage machines that need power like that

That is such a cool machine! Good find and if you can, post a video when you get it working!

    hey johnnny,

there is a 4 diode bridge in the corner of your circuit, and markings for solenoid, which I think is that long rectangle with the windings.

so, there is AC to DC conversion

    what does the solenoid do?

    I'm jealous!

    great find!

OK, so heres how it works...

The thing in the back that looked like a solenoid is actually a track.

The center piece spins, and when the balls land in different shaped pockets, they go into different holes, and open the tulips.

Sometimes it'll open the whole board, sometimes just the top, bottom, or center.

Nice find for $12.50!!! really clean. Had to break it all down just to figure out the wiring, and glue a couple parts together. No biggie.

Very cool! so the hooked one and the two short ones are the only grooves that do anything? I assume the two long ones just drop the ball out the bottom?

since all the solenoids open at once, isn't that being triggered by the solenoid? like the powerflash? (saw the SOL+ and SOL- on your circuit board)

that's a very cool, early motorized vintage machine.

btw, planedoc is parting out a kyoraku that has an electric shot, maybe you could use that for one of your mods?

You're right, there must be a solenoid in there somewhere. Dont know how I missed it. I'm going to have to take a closer look!

The longer pockets drop out through the bottom, and through a double tulip.
